Now that Air Tran has a significant number of medium/long
haul flights(ATL-LAS.ATL-PHX,MKE-LAS,ect...)will they be
offering a buy-food-onboard program in coach?
Has their business class food been upgraded?
I know they only have a forward galley on the 737.

If you consider switching from dill flavored chips to TGIFriday's chips an "upgrade", and if you consider either one of those "food", then sure!!! We've never had food in business class, unless you bring your own. I haven't heard any talk about beginning food service in either class. I feel for the pax, connecting in ATL, with 35 minutes (if you're on time) to get from one aircraft to another, sometimes one concourse to another. Waiting in line for food usually isn't an option.

Forget Charlie's Steakery by Gate C-12. I stood in line for 20 minutes with only 8 people ahead of me. I gave up after only 4 had been served. Flew to BOS eating the TGI Friday's chips..... Thank Gawd the Lead F/A knew me and gave me extra's ;-) If you have to switch gates from Concourse C to D, add an extra 5 minutes getting past the damn line at Starbucks.... Fricken idiots congregate in the middle of the walkway yappin on their cell phones.

I agree about Charley's being slow. One time I had 30 mins between flights and thought I had time to grab something to eat before the flight....granted ATL to PNS isnt a long flight, but still.... I was hungry. I paid for my food and almost didnt get the chance to grab what I paid for.... I barely made the flight. So Charleys is not a place I will eat while on C concourse....

I'm cool with Charlie's again.... at least on Tuesday & Wednesday mornings. Got thru in 5 minutes. The remodeling is a surprise, it's the same as before  ... I still like that Breakfast Steak, Egg, Onion & Cheese Samich for $3.23.... Best deal in town. B)

My food choice of last resort on C concourse is Moe's. I can't stand hearing, "Welcome to Moe's" barked out every 60 seconds, especially early in the morning. One day, I'm going to snap and yell back, "Shut the !@#$%^&* up"!!!!

When I was in ATL on Tuesday, I actually went down to A concourse and got a bite to eat. Time to change it up a bit.... But next time I am on C, I shall check out the "samich" you mentioned.

CitrusJock - I dare you to say it to the Moe's folks! :) I totally agree with the annoying Welcome to Moe's every few seconds.....

But I'd give anything to have a selection of eateries at my airport. At PNS, we have Veronas before security and Verona's after security.

My last trip thru there, I ate at Pre-Secuity Veronas... after getting past the TSA, I was Hungry again!

When they expand the airport next year, there's supposed to be additional eating establishments at PNS.

As for in-flight service on Airtran, I think they could offer a small snack-pack in coach on the longer flights (ATL-West Coast) and maybe a small snack/meal in the business cabin. I think right now the management at Airtran still has a short-haul network mindset which will need to change a bit going forward.

While I agree with you to an extent, I doubt you will see that happening in the near future. Pax are 'briefed' in the gate area that there are no meals served, only snacks. At least on the Trans cons, they do 2-3 'services' and I've never seen a F/A deny anyone, an extra bag or two of pretzels. I try to eat before a long trip and load up my own snacks... If we start with the Mini Banquets, prices will go up and no one will like that. I don't care for the buying snacks either, way over priced. Unfortunately, I was unable to eat this morning or pre-load before my Spirit ATL-FLL-SJU today..... cost me $8 for a Ginger Ale, 2 oreos, 1 Rice Crispie, 8 crackers with cheese... oh, and 2 mini boxes of raisins which I gave to the Mother of a screaming kid to shut him up. It worked! B)

Are you opening the SJU station?
