MR IAM , STOP the nonsense and do the right thing, cut jobs THAT ARE NOT necessary, bring wages back to decent standars $ 35.00+ hr get back the ritirement plus ++++

who in their right mind will pay the same wages accross the board for (tug slugs, deice truck queens, gse rats ,interior, fiberglass, electrical, engine shop, and most of heavy maintenance CHUCKS) get paid the same as the mechanic working wide bodies for transatlantic flight.. ETOPS,CAT.RVSM ALL REQUIRE LOG BOOK SING OFF

SO MUCH WASTE.

I WILL GIVE UP MY JOB, IF; IT CAME TO IT, FOR BETTER WAGES.

Ah an elitist.

Hate to tell you but your work is being done in Mobile, AL for wages that range from $13 to $19 an hour with no vacation, sick time or insurance.

This company will never pay you $35 an hour while there are unlicensed and licensed mechanics willing to work at slave wages.

700UW your absolutely right and its a two edged sword, when skilled labor wages fall so do the unskilled.

700UW,

While I don't agree with a lot of the company moves regarding outsourcing, your facts are not fully truthful.

Many MROs have high paying gigs. I know someone at TIMCO who just spent three weeks in Lake City, Florida, and he got $2,500 a week while he was down there. He worked hard for sure, but $7,500 for three weeks worth of work right before Christmas is something no one in the Maintenance Department at US will see again any time soon. If the IAM had cut the featherbedding in the first round of cuts, it may not be as bad now. Oh yeah, he has insurance, too.

Very True, was not disputing that at all.

The problem lies with the MROs using unlicensed mechs and mechs that have a license that care about the profession.

They travel like gypsies, they go from MRO to MRO where the work is and they work for no vacation, no benefits or insurance.

I think the FARs should be change that no unlicensed mechanics be able to perform work and get someone else to sign it off.

ST MAE where US is getting work done has over a 2 to 1 margin of unlicensed mechanics vs licensed mechanics.

The unions also need to place an emphsis to organize MROs.

The fat was cutout.

This company wants to be like Valujet, have as little employees as possible and be a virtaul airline.

A/C 700UW is a perfect example of you get what you pay for.

Hey. there is common ground we can agree on. The FAA should require the same licensing requirements from MROs that they do the airlines.

As for organizing, I don't see the benefit for many of the MRO workers to organize. The IAM would seem to need them much more than the MRO employees need the IAM.

wasnt or isnt the faa watching the st mae due to the problems that our first some numbers of airbus came out from there with problems? or are they giving up on it?
also what does st mae stand for?

There were problems with 7 out of the first 12 A320 family planes that were S-checked.

The FAA is still investigating the incidents and yes they are down there now watching.

I don’t know of any other profession that you can do the work and someone else would sign for it…!!!

The IAM needs to make this a national focal point; the general public has no idea this goes on.

it would be nice if you all stop the crap about how poor, mediocre or pencilwipping the work is at mro's .
i have ahard time believing you guys ;either you never work at heavy checks or you know nothing about heavy maintenance. the mro's safety record is as good as any airline or manufacturer here or anywhere; of course there are mishaps ,but; is mostly human error and not company policy=== i know the cable blocks at the commuter in clt=== it all points out to the inspector (RII) he is the one that has to have a license .not the rigger. its the same way at usairways.
the only reason usair has all license mechanics up to a few years ago, is because there was very little difference in pay from license to nonlicense mechanics, the same as in gse they got license pay and never used it. the license only gives you the right to sing off log books and certify airworthiness, under shop license only the supervisor and inspection need to have a license. as per FAR 21 AND 35 AND 45
MOST MRO'S HAVE WAGES OF $20 TO START TOPS $ 30 IN 3 TO 5 YEARS, THEY HAVE VACATION 401K AND HEALTH BENEFITS. PLEASE CK

WE ARE WHERE WE ARE BECAUSE OUR UNION HAS NO VISION ,ALL THEY WANT IS DUES,THE MORE THE BETTER AND WILL CHOP OUR WAGES TO NOTHING TO SECURE THEIR DUES.
WE TOOK A 33% PAY CUT, LOST 1 WEEK VACATION ,2 PAYD HOLIDAYS TO SAVE
DEICING CREWS,INTERIOR SHOPS, COMMUNICATION TECHNITIAN,TOOLROOM MECHANICS,,ETC,ETC............. SO THE IAM KEEPS COLLECTING DUES

700UW: OPEN YOUR EYES OUR UNION AND THE COMPANY ARE IN BED TOGHETHER
WE DONT EVEN GET A KISS WHEN THEY ARE deleted US.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO ALL.

You did not take a 33% paycut, it was 6.8% in round one of bankruptcy.

Then a temp 21%.

I read these diatribes on here from 700 and others...I just don't get where your coming from. Every other employee group has had to change, to adapt and make tremendous sacrifices. Everyone is moving towards a new reality...except the IAM. What the heck makes you so special that you think your better than the rest of us? It is truly an ugly kind of arrogance that would toy around with other peoples jobs and futures the way you do.

I think it comes down to the transferrability of skill sets.

A guy with an A&P (who is good) can get find a job that is competitive with what US is proposing pretty easily, even outside the aviation field.

To be frank: there are not 3,000 jobs paying $80k and up for guys with an ATP and a zillion hours of turbine PIC.

That's the difference.
