HONGQIAO airport plans to add a terminal and a runway to meet the surging traffic load and prepare for the 2010 World Expo, China Business News reported today.
The airport hopes to handle 20 million passengers a year by 2010, said Zhu Chuansong, general manager of Hongqiao airport.
As of now, Hongqiao airport handles 466 flights -- both taking off and landing -- every day. Pudong and Hongqiao airports collectively handled 1,028 flights a day in 2005.
