Specifically at JFK or BOS if there any people on here working there. I am just curious after applying for the opening they put up at jfk. thnks for any responses.

Days off are based on seniority. You will be in training for about a week, lots of videos and classes concerning hazardous materials and shipping dangerous goods. During that time your badge will be processed too. AA is about in the middle regarding pay and overall compensation, which may get worse when fleet service ratifies an agreement. If you're looking for something to do while you are attending college then AA is not a bad place to work. I would not encourage anyone to begin a career at AA or any airline for that matter. Okay, if I had to do it again, I would go with Southwest Airlines.

Good Luck!

How can they be hiring off the street for JFK? They just shipped 14 of their junior most F/T'ers over to LGA on the 4th of this month and laid off a lot of the junior P/T'ers at both JFK and LGA.

The panic squad that is AA management in the NY One Station has (As Usual) cut far too many heads far too quickly and OT levels have now exploded.Day off, preshift, postshift, you name it, it's available.

Those people from JFK that came over to LGA? They still don't have their airport ID's, despite coming from one Port Authority airport to another.

I'll give you an idea of how screwed up this place is,afternoons on the line needs a minimum of 25 clerks to function. Before they held OT yesterday you know how many we had? 8!

They held another 9 on OT, but even with the reduced Saturday schedule saving their rear ends, they ate a lot of delays. But,mismanagement doesn't seem to think there is a problem.

Today is a full schedule and they've got the same problem they had yesterday, 8 F/T heads when they need 20 plus.

But, in the midst of all this schedule cutting and laying off of employees they found the resources to hire another CSM, because god knows you can never have enough CSM's harassing the people that are left on the field after this latest management CF.

Well let me add, that if the union negotiates away OAL cleaning ( finnair , mexicana, and jetair ) cleaning to a outside contractor, in order to get the top tier guys a raise, they'll be plenty of guys pounding the pavement.

Hey they negotiated away the employee bus driving job in '02 to bring back 40 F/T'ers that got shipped to LGA.In an ironic twist, more than half of 'em chose to stay at LGA so they gave away the employee bus for less than 15 F/T'ers.We had been driving the employee bus since the 60's but 501 just gave it away like Crazy Eddie.

In all fairness though, I don't think Virella will pull the same BS Chiofalo did.

Fleet, a guy just returned from LGA ( forced to LGA from JFK) and tells me that he spent an entire week in class rooms awaiting his LGA port ID, only to be told to return to JFK via a one sentence letter, with no explanation, as to what happened.

The guys loses his bid turn, lockers at JFK, then is forced to work at JFK, Day 1 with his old PORT ID, needless to say he's stuck in a crappy job now, with work-hours he didn't and won't have if he had been left at JFK in the first place.

I believe he never got out of the classroom, becasue JFK didn't turn in his ID to Port JFK , so the LGA Port held up giving his LGA ID.

If this is true, and there are others liike him, someone in management should get canned. This is a waste of thousand of manpower hours to the comapny, and a complete lack of respect the clerk.

None of the JFK guys that were shipped over here have hit the field yet, I've heard from the trainer that some (5) of them were getting recalled to JFK in the very near future.

Meanwhile, take a look on aa.com and behold, they are hiring P/T fleet service clerks for JFK.
aa.com

Hiring off the street while there are people getting shuffled around and displaced left and right.

You're right, management is responsible for this and how come the union isn't holding their feet to the fire?
