As most political junkie's ......know..by now (Lest they be Dead or H I D I N G ), the count now is up to "5" GOP Congressmen who have told GOP anti-tax LOBBYIST(Grover Norquist) to "F-OFF" as 4 of the current 5 have disavowed the "PLEDGE" that they signed, to NEVER raise TAXES.

The Four are (LED) by GEORGIA (R) U S Senator SAXBY CHAMBLISS, are (R) John McCAIN R-A/Z, (R) Lindsey Graham-S/C, (R) Peter King-N/Y.

Newly elected U S Senator Jeff Flake (R)-A/Z has refused to sign said "PLEDGE".

Your thoughts ?

This just in,.......U S Senator Bob Corker (R) Tennessee, and U S House Whip....ERIC CANTOR (R) V/A are DEFECTING !

HOLY SH!T. This is spreading faster than a FOX NEWS LIE !

You put way too much emphasis on unelected folks like Norquist and Rove, Bears.

The best way for the GOP to win in 2014 is to stop resisting what the Dems want to do.

That's why 16 states have already said "you do it" when it comes to setting up health exchanges.

When I was managing folks at AA, I was always more than willing to give my folks enough rope to hang themselves with if they didn't want to heed my advice.

Same concept at play here... If Dems want to continue to make catastrophic mistakes, have at it.

I'll be munching away on the popcorn until Moochelle outlaws it.

Maybe, except that both of them wield considerable influence in politics. Norquist himself might not be news, but the idea that people are finally saying to hell with the "pledge" after so blindly abiding by it for so long *is* news...

Rove was a King maker. If he chose you, you were golden. This past election has shut that door. Prior to 2012, if you did not sign the pledege from Norquist it was the kiss of death from the RNC.

Eolesen, if Norquist was so ineffective in terms of his power, why did 236 reps and 41 senators sign it? They signed it because Norquist and the RNC would pummel them if they did not sign it.

You sound like the FOX pundits I was watching this morning. They were arguing that caps on deductions did not amount to a tax increase. If someone pays more taxes due to a change in the tax policy there was a tax increase. Only a republican could say that it isn't with a straight face.

Just because you believe that Norquist and Rove did not have power, does not make it so. Their power as of Nov 6, 2012 was severely damaged.

Gee guess your a hypocrite.

Just curious how the double standard of name calling works, Archie...

Can we call the current president the name you've called Bush 43 without being labeled as racist?

Can we refer to anyone male in the Obama administration as effeminate without being labeled as homophobic?

Can we refer to the relative waistline size of the first lady or SecState without being labeled as sexist and against women?

People obviously don't understand the real process. Bush 1 was made a fool of when he said No NEW taxes and then RAISED taxes. It's one or the other because my taxes haven't gotten MUCH lower

It's either/or and no in between. They also find ways of making it look like you're paying the same or less for a certain tax, but CREATE new taxes somewhere else.

The government is going to get theirs at the taxpayers expense...one way or another. Raise your current taxes or create...in a creative way...new taxes. That's why instead of In God We Trust, it should be In OUR Government We Trust!

The Romney platform was quite clear about capping deductions and closing loopholes, so where exactly do you see the hypocrisy?

Read his pledge.

No one here is talking about Romney. He is history. We are talking about the republicans who have come out and said that tax rates and other tax related issues are now on the table.

Its 'providing revenue" when you close a loophole.....not a tax increase.

People, we got a spending problem first and foremost.

It's both, Dell.

Spending (particularly entitlements and spinning off government agencies like Amtrak and the USPS) needs to drop.

But revenue has to also improve. The 47% can't continue to have a free ride, nor can the top 1-2%. I think we all just disagree on where that revenue needs to come from.

There's no reasonable explanation for a mortgage interest deduction on someone who has the means to pay cash for their home(s).

My bigger concern is what happens with the death tax. Out in flyover country, this is a huge liability for family farmers and ranchers, many who may have thousands of acres of land (acquired over many decades) with a "fair market value" in the millions, but with a true value is not actually realized until it is sold.

I don't object to taxing capital gains at the point of sale of assets, but taxing it at the time of transfer is essentially confiscation... In order to meet the tax bill, it's expected that farms will wind off being sold at values far less than the IRS valued the estate at. And they'll likely be sold to corporations, not individuals.

We need to improve revenues, but stealing the land of farmers and ranchers isn't my idea on how to do it.

Frankly, taxing cocaine and marijuana would probably raise more revenue than stealing ranch land...

Surprise, Surprise ! I can always look forward to Barry-O starting a new topic, DAILY. I think he just likes to see his name in lights !
