One of Pelosi’s biggest fights currently is trying to help the flailing auto industry.

She and Reid are pushing for sweeping aid to the industry, which is suffering under the weight of poor sales, tight credit and a sputtering economy. She said Tuesday she was confident that lawmakers meeting next week in a lame-duck session would consider "emergency and limited financial assistance" under the $700 billion bailout measure that passed Congress in October. She urged the outgoing Bush administration to go along with a compromise.

So Bush/Paulson want to help out Wall Street. Now the Dem congress wants to help the Auto Industry. Where should it stop?

Instead of giving the american auto industry $50 billion dollars............and employees free viagra...............why not give each american $30,000 and stipulate they must purchase a car with these funds ! Let the market decide who lives and dies , instead of Big Brother!

SW....unionism was down to less than 12% membership the last I looked....the Dem's get boatloads of cash from other sources too....the international's funnel cash no doubt.I don't think the Dem's would die w/o union contributions though.

Although Dodd said "we ought to do something" and personally backed using money from the ongoing $700 billion financial services rescue program to help Detroit, he was skeptical that enough Republicans would support a bailout.
