Who's to say if man contributes to global warming. Maybe he does. The crap we spew from the tailpipes of our autos certainly doesn't HELP the atmosphere. I consider myself "accidently green"...I drive a hybrid, I ride my bike for short errands (weather permitting). I try to save what I can because I have a kid who will be here after I am gone, and I'd like to leave her a little something. But it seems to me that while technology exists to make transportation considerably less polluting, we make laws that exempt certain vehicles because of their popularity...witness the SUV and their exemption from fuel economy and emissions standards. I wonder if the mom in the SUV that was purchased because they "cared" for the safety of their kid, and who is idling for half an hour...burning precious oil and spewing emissions into the air while waiting for their precious cargo to get out of school, ever thinks about how much oil her kid will have when they are adults...or if they will need to wear gasmasks because of the pollution in the air.
I can't take the suspense. Let's just get it over with now.Not winning; but delaying the inevitable.
I guess that should be expected when you use the bulk of the worlds oil, but have only a fraction of the worlds populationThen whats your postion regarding the Kyoto accords?
Only US is penalized for fossil fuel usage whilst the likes of a boat load of third world country's are permitted to pollute the world to no end and catch up" to the..US.
They could stand to go higher. I drive a hybrid...if gas went to $6 a gallon, I could still fill my tank for less than the lady filling the Expedition or Suburban at the pump next to mine today.Kyoto will bring all in the US excessively high fuel use taxes in the interest of saving fossil fuels...
Think gas prices are high?....Gore feels we should be paying like prices that the Euro's pay for their gasoline even though its delivered all over Europe by truck not like pipeline as in the US.
That's the thing...we won't be around when it ends' Our kids and grand-kids on the other hand will look at pictures of grandad and grandma loading up the Hummer for a trip to the grocery store and wonder why in the hell they had to drive something so big and so wasteful...and leave NOTHING for them...so that it costs them $10 a gallon for gas. They'll think even less of us should it turn out that the scientific community was right...man DID have a lot to do with global warming. They'll think about that when they take the kids to Atlanta so they can see the ocean. So where will it end?
When will the enviro-weenies wake up??

Yea I saw it...you're old---Farrah FawcettNot sure how old you are but have you ever seent e movie "Logans Run"?
Ahhh...yes Eat, drink, and be merry, for tomorrow we die!
There is nothing knew under the sun.
The earth is finite and has a definitive amount of resources.
Isn't the sun our ultimate source of energy? If so, I think we have a few years left.

True...but wouldn't it be a #### if we find out that the scientists were right...that emissions were eating up the ozone layer and now the pure power of the sun can shine right down on us? You gotta remember, the sun is just like the atom...it can be harnessed to provide power, or it can blast a city to smithereens.Isn't the sun our ultimate source of energy? If so, I think we have a few years left.
Well hot damn. Let's stop refining oil. I think your simplistic statement gives me complete hope that we can survive immediately w/o oil since we have the sun.
You're not getting my point. As long as the sun is around our planet will have some sort of energy. What is oil but energy from the sun that's been stored for years. All energy sources except geo-thermal are sun derived. Please correct me if I am wrong.
Here is a example of an ape man who never developed, or otherwise known as a moron.YOU don't get THE point. The sun doesn't matter if the Earth is uninhabitable. Global warming doesn't mean that we are soo worried about conserving oil. It means that the use of oil (amonng other activities) is warming our atmosphere considerably...more rapidly than at any other point in history. The effects of this are already quite blatant as you look at glaciers in Alaska, Greenland, the Alps, etc that have receeded 80%+ in the last few decades. There IS a problem and that is the problem. Who cares if we run out of oil. I think we ALL agree that we can come up with alternative sources of energy that can be used in our daily lives. The issue is that we are moving more towards oil and coal and less towards alternatives that will be much cleaner. After all...have you seen an electric car recently? Oh yeah...our gov't recalled all of them.
