Would like your opinion? Do you think the GSO club will stay open. GSO presently has a very nice, large, roomy club ... but no mainline flights ... and no curbside check in.

If US Airways had their way, the Club would be eliminated altogether at all airports. I think, long haul, you're only going to see them in Philadelphia, Charlotte, Phoenix, and the Shuttle cities...other than that, including Pittsburgh and Las Vegas, I would imagine the rest would fall under the "fuel knife," even though they don't actually consume fuel.

US Airways calls the club "an oasis for the business traveler." They have made it abundantly clear that their target market is leisure and they're willing to sacrifice the business traveler to satisfy the growing needs of the leisure market. Leisure travelers don't use the Club, therefore the Club is not a valid part of their model.

If the closing doesn't involve people losing jobs, who cares. The US Clubs are lousy. I think NW clubs are my favorite, followed by CO, DL and AA.

It's a VERY nice club .... staffed by nice employees .... I'm sure it's GREAT place to work. Job security is questionable at best, that's why IM asking for some opinions? My job seems secure here in INT, so IM not sure if I should consider an opening there.

Many very nice clubs with pleasant people working them are gone.

I can't remember where I saw this, but somewhere I heard they were going to temporarily shut down the GSO club in order to remodel it.

I could of sworn that I saw a thread on here discussing the fact that the club was going to close, but they decided to keep it open after getting so much feedback from FF'ers (maybe it was RDU, though???). I tried to sift though the threads on the US boards, but couldn't find it...

Yes, it was RDU that you were thinking of

Remodel it? Are you kidding me? That would cost money and you know that the Tempe group is not looking to spend money.

I found where I saw it... on FT. (Typos not mine in quote.)

USAir Club at GSO to remodel
I understand that the club at GSO is not only NOT going to be closed but is being remodeled next month. Apparently local compoanies are helping to redecorate the club. IOnteresting approach. Maybe more local businesses will do the same for other USAir clubs as the furnishings are getting rather bus staionesque.

Thanks for the feed back guys ... I doubt they keep it, the airport lease and six employees has to be hard on an express city's budget. If they did close it I guess I could always return to rez.
