Foxhole atheists plan to rock the base at Fort Bragg

I don't have a problem with equal treatment and organizing an event for the 5 or 6 "foxhole atheists" should be treated equal.

But then I see this:
"They bragged that they got hundreds of soldiers … to accept Jesus Christ as their lord and savior," said Griffith of the concert-festival series. "That is unacceptable. The chaplain’s job is not to grow their flock, it’s their job to take tend to the existing flock."

Much like he is trying to grow his 'flock'... And where does he seek license to determine Chaplin responsibilities?

As I understand it Christians are charged with attempting to try and convert (proselytize) all that they can. Is it the job of military chaplains to convert lost souls? I find that a bit offensive my self. I am not aware of any such practice by atheist.

I find it curious that he is getting death threats. I wonder who is making the threats? You did not seem to find anything wrong with this.

This, coming from a lost soul !

Aside from the fact that your comment offers absolutely nothing to the conversation which is par for the course, what proof do you have that I am lost? Who exactly determines who is lost? Who determines which of the thousands of beliefs is the right one? You? By what authority? I am perfectly content in my beliefs.

May be next time you will actually have something to contribute to the conversation but I doubt it. There is a first time for everything.

What do you think this event is intended to do?
Wonder if they will report converts...

Just because I didn't mention it doesn't mean I agree with it. But as usual, you infer without basis.
He should be glad he's an American, and they will get their event (as they should).
If he tried this in Iraq, well it wouldn't be news.

Why should the fact that the US Military is gung-ho on christianity surprise anyone.

No sooner than they "crawled" off the Mayflower, and got healed thanx to the INDIANS, did they Start with thier christian CRAP (by force) down the throats of EVERYONE, and I mean Everyone.

Fast forward to the birth of one delightful little Slogan, and an Edict (think MANIFEST DESTINY, and the PAPAL BULL...Doctrine of Discovery) that then the US Army swung into High Gear ! "Assimilate or .. D I E" mf-er

Fast forward to the USAF academy, and they got caught persecuting the few Jews there. This too is Factual !!!!

It's a gathering. Gatherings of like minded people does not necessarily mean they are trying to convert. When i went to temple when I was a kid no one was trying to convert. If someone came and was curious I am sure someone would talk to them. When I think of proselytizing I am thinking of door to door or actively pursuing people.

As for what you agree with or don't agree with I can only go by what you write. Since you left out that part what would expect me to think? That seems like it would be a relevant point to address.

Given that he is in the military and has served five years and two tours I think it goes with out saying that he is quite proud to be an American and has placed his life on the line to prove it. I do not see the point of your comment regarding him being grateful. I would be willing to be he would be quite upset at that comment and I doubt you would have the courage to say that to his face. I know I sure as hell would not question his love of country.

Freedom OF Religion, protected by the COTUS!

Freedom FROM Religion, NOT protected by the COTUS!

This is not hard for most humans with a brain not filled with hatred and bigotry to grasp. Your Rights end where mine begin. If you want YOUR views respected then logic would dictate that you respect another beliefs.

I have to disagree.
Atheists are practicing their COTUS guaranteed religion of non-belief.
Pushing their antics on the populace of believers who for the most part are willing to co-exist peacefully which they should wake up and see would benefit non believers in the end better than what they sow now.
Kindly sleeping giants are best left alone.

They can push their agenda all they like. However they'd best be prepared for some backlash and not run to court seeking protection that doesn't exist under the COTUS.

Like you said best not mess with a sleeping giant. It's the air of superiority that get many of them in trouble.

What agenda is being pushed? What protection would we need from the courts? What back lash?

People should be free to worship, or not worship, without each other getting nasty about it.

Not all christians act like the taliban, not all athiests are commies.

Believe what you want, or not believe what you want, just don't be a jerk about it, either way.
