I recently flew to MSP on SWA and I noticed something odd. Many of the flights that I was on would be continuing on to upwards of 4 destinations! For example, my flight from OAK to Phoenix was continuing to Denver, Little Rock, Nashville and finally Norfolk! Why do they do this? I'm not complaining, but I figure that just about anything that airlines do is to save money, so what's in it for them? Why not just have different flight numbers for each of these flights? Its not as if someone is going to travel from Oakland to Norfolk with 4 stops, and most people just "use" 1 of the legs of this trip.
Please tell me what's going on.
Thanks
