Flight Attendant Luggage

This may be a stupid question but here it goes. Since HP (WEST) runs the show now. I was looking on the AWA Company store website in the luggage section and I saw a piece of luggage made by Luggage Works (This BTW is the most common rollerboard that the pilots use) My question is by the caption it said "Not Approved For Inflight". I'm a East Flight Attendant and I have the pilot type rollerboard which by the way as lasted me since 1997 when I first started flying with another airline. The travelpro luggage is a piece of crap and I see other flight attendants consantly having to replace their luggage. I think that the "Luggage Works" rollerboard is a much better product.

You can't use it. (I know it sucks!) Inflight Sups and trainers will check your luggage before you go online. You can use "Samsonite" if you don't like Travelpro. I don't like Travelpro either, so I use the hard sided Samsonite.

Do you think our new LCC carrier will allow US to travel like the typical swa pax using multi-colored "Hefty bags" or allow us to go to Walmart and pick out our selection There? Just curious.....my cooler is royal blue adorned with a "Heritage Logo" sticker!

I know many, MANY flight attendants on the east side that use rollerboards and totes bought anywhere from Sams club to Target and marshalls. The company on the east side has been so hard on getting a new bag that its just easier to get your own. I know two people that carry Eddie Bauer roller boards. I thought for a short time that I was going to have to bring my belongings in a plastic shopping bag for my trip due to my suitcase not working. LOL.

Well I use a Tumi rollerboard. I will continue to use this as long as a fly. Travel Pro sucks!!! As long as its black I cant see why they would or should care what brand it is!!!

Does the store in Tempe have a website that is accessible by USAirways/East employees? The one on our "The Hub" website appears to be run by Cintas and has very few items that are of interest. No luggage at all to speak of, save a few small items of little consequence to flight crews.

I'm assuming the 'Luggage Works' is the Purdy Neat.
I wish they would let us have the pilot bags, they are definitely the best. I have the Purdy Neat FA version that was approved for a few years until last year, but I've had to replace the handle twice, and all the screws are falling out. Definitely not the same quality as the pilot bags, but cost twice as much as the Travelpro. I had a Travelpro before and swore I would not get another.
I have the Purdy Neat tote, too, which I really like.
You will find plenty of West FAs who use non-approved luggage, some use something cheap and some have the pilot bags.
Lunch coolers can come from anywhere, but have to be black.
The one sold at the company store is the most popular due to its size.
I guess if they are called in for an appearance check, they just borrow someone elses bag to wheel in there.

Its Not That Serious, we have a uniform standard, and they actually try to keep us all in line with it, otherwise we will end up looking like the Commuter FAs who have no standard at all, and its very noticeable. Not a good 'look'.

Why all the fuss....The Company replaces the Travel Pro when its worn ive gone thru several......Never had a problem....might want to try just being nice to the crew service center gal/guy there a person too......cant blame them when you come in with attitude and leave with nothing.

I cant beleive the stupidity in buying a bag when one is provided FREE.....Then to #### or bump to A cause therre so broke and need the money.

There are a few people that use the Luggage works "pilot" bags, and there are some people who have Costco, or some other unauthorized bag, and never get caught. It's a chance you take.

We have power in numbers though. If everyone sent an email to inflight that TravelPro was an unnacceptable choice, be vocal at Crew News, or town hall meetings, we'll get what we want.

It has never made sence that they don't want us using the Luggage works F/A or Pilot bags when we walk side by side with the pilots, throw our bags in the same overhead bins.

I have a "grandfathered" luggage works F/A bag that is over 10 years old, and only needs a handle repair. In that same 10 years if I was using Travel Pro, I would have bought a new bag every 18 months at best!

From what I understand the folks from US-east will get to continue to use whatever luggage they have, the folks coming into US-west (only the new hires) will have to buy the luggage that the company likes. Even if they already own a complete travel pro set that matches the current stuff that US-west is selling :-/

Umm not hardly...Im not saying go to Ross and bye some 19.99 bag. My bag cost a lot of money and will last me years to come. And it's black and it's 22inchs. No one would even notice!!! If they did they would think nice bag

I don't hear anyone ####ing, and whats this about bumping to A? You lost me.
My Travelpro was navy. Had to switch to black.
