First Integrated Prom?

I agree with you in part on the ‘spirit’ of the law, but to make a ‘law’ and have everyone enforce or abide by it is quite a different story. If in fact the rule of ‘law’ were adhered to by everyone, then there would never be lawbreakers (which we all know is not true). You are upset because it took 40 years to have a desegregated prom party and I am elated that it happened without bloodshed.

Never thought of it like that. I think I can live with that.

Say what you wish...but up to this time Blacks and Whites still have not learned to live and blend together comfortably.
Racism and bigotry abound toward each other from each other even now. What do we do to eliminate these feelings?

JHMO,

We basically (I mean ‘very basic’) have two dynamics on this issue.

1) The ‘guilt’ factor of anyone ‘not-black’ for the injustice that was dealt to them through slavery. Through the guilt, the blacks have been mollycoddled to a point that they believe that it is their right to hate everyone else, and it is pretty much solidified with law and actions. By the PC correctness, we have become enablers.

2) Blacks use #1 as justification (crutch) for their situation (whatever it may be).

It all comes down to those that understand the past, learn from it, and move on; to those that use the past to justify their actions. We can also use this dichotomy for anyone who was abused and feel that they are justified in their actions for being lazy or insane. Although this scenario applies mainly to our black population, other ethnic groups have latched on to this guilt trip to get their share of whine and cheese.

Racism and bigotry abound toward each other from each other even now. What do we do to eliminate these feelings?

As a solution/answer to your question, it takes both sides to recognize that skin color does not matter but it is the person within that counts.

When will that occur? I have no clue for everyone else but 'I' live by it every day, maybe it will become a communicable desease. :p

Delldude Apologizes for Columbus Discovering America

I'd like to take time today to apologize for Chris Columbus' tragic discovery of America and founding all that has come to this point. It is my deepest regret that he,without any foreknowledge, single handedly is soley responsible for this Democrat/Republican tainted world which we find ourselves so miserably debating that has caused the world so much dilemma. If he had in fact went a little to the south...we'd have less pollution, less global warming, friendly Indians, better fishing and a peaceful coexistence with our maker.

With deepest regrets,

Dell

Point of order.

Natives were already here so technically they discovered it not Columbus.

We only exploited the land that Columbus "discovered".

Show me in history where they 'technically' beat Chrissy to the punch.

How can they discover something they had from whenever?

Indians never discovered America until tourism was born.

Who is it putting the shaft to Native Americans?

I would surmise it is the Indians who have been given carte blanche that is shafting their brothers.

Billions are taken in yearly in Oklahoma Indian casinos alone yet the majority are still living in poverty.

I was out working in my back yard today and came across an ant colony that I have never seen before. Not the typical red ant nor black ant, but some variation of the two. I pondered their existence for a millisecond or two when I realized that their colony was being subsidized by my honeysuckle bush.

Therein lays the conundrum, should I call an entomologist for this possible new species or simply eradicate them.

I do so like the smell of the honeysuckle while I drink coffee on the back deck in the morning.

What do you believe I did to solve this dilemma? :p
