I don't want this to become an east versus west thread. That said, I have heard that America West's policy is to allow employees to use the America West club, now USAirways club. The old USAirways rules prohibit east employees from using the club. I never understood this as I would have paid for a membership. Anyway my question to any west employee is what exactly is your policy, is it discounted or limited amount of visits. Also a general question to anyone who might know, will the new management allow east employees into the clubs?

As far as I know, only paying customers are allowed into the club. That being said, HP does sell day-passes and those can be purchased by anyone, including an employee (no discount tho). So an employee is allowed to use the club the same way any other customer is allowed to use the club. I haven't even asked to tour the club myself, because its for customers, not employees.

I do know, back around the time of the HP bankruptsy, HP had sold lifetime club memberships for a very crazy rate. Many employees bought the lifetime membership, because, well, it was a great deal for someone who flies alot =P So those employees will still be allowed to use their membership.

Provided you pay (membership/day pass/Full Fare F) you may access the Club. I just wouldn't announce that I was an employee or flash my badge.

You can use the club I had the chance a few months ago to go in with another FA while we waited to commute home..she has one of those life time memberships (700.00)...It was nice to just sit and read its sooo quite..I was told to just put my badge away..back in the day of Franke it was a NO NO for us to go there...

First Class pax are no longer allowed to use the club unless they are members. I don't agree with the policy, but that is what the company wants.

I thing it is a good idea employees using the club if they buy a membership or get a pass. As far as US/east this was a NO! NO!

I've bought my day pass in PHX. It's an excellent investment on heavy load nonrev days! :D

I have a feeling that the company feared a "party atmosphere" in the club if they let employees in, but I dont see this happening.
I'd be more than willing to buy a day pass at times, especially when having to sit in PHL for up to 6 hours to be sure you get there in time to catch an international flight without risking a misconx.
You have to purchase liquor anyway so it isnt like there would be an open bar for employees to get out of hand.
Also, I thought revenue enhancement would be on the minds of management and this sounds like a great way to get some $ in without the company having to do anything to bring it in since the club is already there and just waiting.

As a US Airways Club member, I have no problem with HP/US employees joining or using the club... your membership dollars are as good as mine. I don't really think the "party atmosphere" fears are warranted at all.

I think that ban was a symptom of U management's inbred mistrust of the rank-and-file more than anything else. "They're employees, they don't know any better."

I would GLadly buy Any kind of Membership!! The crew room in PHL SUCKS!! It's Deplorible and Pathetic!! After DP's Town Hall Meeting I had a wonderful (Scheduled) 3hr sit (sit being the opperable word here) But guess what? There WAS No where To Sit except on THE FLOOR!! Terrible!!
Question? How are US West crew rooms?

The last time I was in PHX and LAS in October, the alcohol was free. Is that changing systemwide? Do you have to pay at all clubs now? Is it free at all clubs now?

I would have no problem bringing in two employees as my guest on my membership to get them in the door. Can they stop me from doing that?

No, but I wouldn't do it while they were in uniform. The key is to blend. The minute anyone figures out employees are using the lounge the whole thing loses its ‘allure.’

AA has always forbidden employees from purchasing memberships in the Admirals Club, but AA employees may visit the club when flying on revenue tickets that permit AC access or obtain elite status via revenue tix (Plat and EXPs may visit the clubs when flying on International tix).

I can see the reasoning behind prohibiting employees from the clubs, but at the same time, airline clubs are hurting for revenue (many airlines have been closing clubs), so if the employees want to give back a few hundred $$$ for a membership, perhaps it should be OK.

LAS will retain free booze  . All others will charge.

For the business

On a personal note
