Arm twisting "volunteers" and a one-day full-court press isn't going to solve U's problems. This is taking an asperin for a hemorrage.
The volunteers aren't going to solve the understaffing on the ramp since they won't be able to work there. Even if a few are, they're going to be fairly useless anyway. If there's weather and a disrupted schedule, that's only going to make it worse. The solution to this is day-in-and-day-out leadership
All the greeters, smiles, and people pointers in the world aren't going to solve U's chronic understaffing, draconian paycuts, pension abrogations, abysmal morale and most serious of all . . . . . a long-failed business model where the competition is going to continue to out-compete it.
