If you like liberal causes than you are going to love being a Teamster.

Big is good and the Teamsters are very big.

It cost a lot of money to grease the wheels in Washington and the Teamsters apply a lot of grease.

The Teamsters have higher dues than the TWU and AMFA and for good reason-there are many causes and candidates the Teamsters invest in.

According to opensecrets.org the Teamsters made $4,856,179 in contributions last year over a hundred different democratic candidates and spent 1,291,700 in lobbying efforts in 2012 and 1,483,500 in 2011. They also spent another $942,184 in what is considered outside spending.

This seems like a lot to me but I guess that is the price we will have to pay for Washington politicians to get our collective progressive agenda across on the American people.
I myself am a big supporter of both Barrack Obama and Diane Feinstein and I was happy to see thousands went to both candidates. The Teamsters helped over 100 democrats in the last year and with the new M&R at AA and possibly other new groups from AA (like supply and fleet) becoming Teamsters we will be able to invest even more.

As a Teamster you’ll pool your money with freight drivers and warehouse workers, public defenders, vegetable workers, sanitation workers, brewers, newspaper workers, zoo keepers, healthcare workers, secretaries, police officers, soft drink workers and the list goes on and on.

AMFA is no match when it comes to greasing the wheels of progress in Washington; their workers are better at greasing 737 landing gear. They have a lobbyist in Washington but his focus is extremely limited by AMFA. AMFA throws their political clout away on aircraft industry issues rather than big picture issues like filling all three branches of government with liberal thinkers.

My advice-if you agree with the causes the TWU now indorses and supports and union agents making decisions for you than please lets get the Teamsters in, as they will pack a greater wallop with our collective union dues in shaping our nations progressive future.

If you are selfishly more concerned about the aviation industry and in particular aviation standards, wages and benefits then throw away a vote on AMFA.

The Teamsters will take care of us and our money. Autopilot!
AMFA forces us to actively participate in our futures.

The Teamsters are about spending millions a thousand different political ways and they need our money.

Teamsters need our money....really?
Salesman will pitch anything to get their sale or their card signed just like we said all along. starting off with a lie shows us what the future will be!!!!! Sign an AMFA card for craft union

[background=transparent]Teamsters Nonsense![/background]
[background=transparent]The IBT is again claiming they will reopen our agreement by filing a Section 6 reopener, and that they will magically achieve wage and benefit improvements above what the TWU has negotiated. This claim is nonsense. The law does not provide for any scenario that would allow the IBT to open and renegotiate our contract before it is amendable. The IBT can send a Section 6 reopener, but management will file the request in the waste bin.

Before you consider the IBT, take a close look at the facts and ask if the IBT is being honest with you. We challenge the IBT to explain how AA would be legally required to open negotiations with the IBT prior to the amendable date of the present contract. The IBT can’t answer this question because its claim is nonsense.

Just as a reality check, consider IBT’s record when they raided AMFA at UAL. The IBT’s contract with UAL was reached over three years after it took over representation from AMFA and long after the amendable date of the AMFA contract. So much for Teamster Power.

By the way, to set the record straight, the 4.3% increase is not the only wage increase that our members can expect. Despite bankruptcy, TWU members will actually receive a 17.4% pay increase (equal to a $4.73/hour increase) by the end of the first three years of the agreement. This does not even include the automatic industry wage adjustment that requires the Company to increase our pay to industry standard (Delta/United average) by 2015. And we have negotiated these improvements without agreeing to the level of outsourcing that IBT allows under its contract with United.[/background]

Blood in the water!

The TWU is looking for anyway to hook its membership into retaining it. I am sure soon we'll here that the raise is only good as long as the TWU is representing us.

In anticipation of that argument the Teamsters are guaranteeing that and much and more.

THE FOCUS NEEDS TO BE ON INTEGRATION AND WHAT THE TWU IS GIVING AWAY AGAIN

My earlier post was nothing but entertainment I myself am a moderate democrat but I don't like the methods big unions use to grease the wheels and to be honest I don't have much in common with those other groups. My largest concern is with the aviation industry.

Point is the Teamsters focus is much broader than the airline industry. The Teamsters spend a lot of money on a broad sweeping agenda. I am more focused on our industry and so is AMFA.

I was serious about how the Teamsters will spend our money and put us on Autopilot though.
The Teamsters agents will call the shots.

Having the Teamsters represent us will be like having the TWU represent us but much more expensive. We will have a much smaller voice than before.

With AMFA the focus is on our industry not socialist agenda's and it is us who will control our future not some business agent who drove trucks or brewed beer.

AMFA is more like power steering the members are in control of the machine.

Jim Little is making window washing moves without the consent of a single member this won't happen when the TWU is replaced by AMFA.

I thought we were the union?

Jim Little your fired!
Jimmy Hoffa Jr. keep your paws off our money!

Sure...

How did this success work out when all of a sudden amfa had over 10,000 members?

They lost it all and squandered the money on such things like offering half a million in pay to the self appointed lifetime director. amfa spent their members money on crafty lawyers like Seeham and financial bandits like Kevin McCarthy. There was no money left for politics or even the negotiating committees.

You keep spewing your little rainbow heart out there proAMT. There are some of us who remember what amfa did with our dues and how the disappointed all of us.

How quickly history would like us to forget.

this has to be the prototype letter for never supporting the Teamsters.
Diane Feinstein? I wouldn't admit supporting her at gunpoint, she shouldn't be dog catcher much less a US senator

AMFA won't waste their members money. There is enough other unions running to Washington to help the industry as a whole. What the teamsters, TWU, IAM, CWA, ALPA, APA, and so on, what these unions do to help the industry affects all of us in the industry. Let them do the leg work for AMFA. What they all get done for them they get done for us all.
Stop with the members lost. Not going thru this set of lies with you again.
Things are getting a little hot right now with the card drive huh? I knew you would be back. By all means continue to post, it does help the AMFA drive...

I was wondering just where we would fit into the Teamsters here in Seattle. Our small class II station only has a little over 20 AMT's. Which local would we tie ourselves to? I got looking around on line and trying to figure out where we belonged.
WOW what a diverse group of workers and people the Teamsters represent.

As far as I can tell their are three different locals in the area.
Local 117 which are apox. 16,500 members appear to be truck drivers, law enforcement officers, waste water treatment professionals, public sector professionals and correctional officers. The Local 117 sponsors many different community projects including Seattle PrideFest http://seattlepridefest.org
After spending the last 21 years in Tulsa I got to admit this place is very different.

There is the local 174 who appear to represent cargo and package shipping and garbage disposal. One of their work groups is on strike as we speak against natural food distributor UNFI. They have been on strike for the last three and a half months. This local is proud of its recent role in the World Trade Organization protests in Seattle back in 1999 and the image of" "Teamsters and Turtles” marching together established a new and powerful icon for progressive solidarity around the world."

The Local 763 appears to represent local office and clerical workers in the Seattle area.

Which local would you choose if you got the choice?

It is very interesting reading up on what we may become part of in the next few months. Please, don't trust me, look these and other Teamster sites up yourself and verify and more importantly become informed about the Teamster family of workers.

With all the different actions and causes going on at one time I can certainly understand why the Teamsters need lots of our money.

Personally I am more comfortable supporting a group that has walked in my shoes and supports issues that are important to me and my future. I am comfortable supporting AMFA but is it not convenient to have a choice which direction we want to go?
