You want to know what the media lied about?
Well you were alive then but if you insist.......
Michael Brown
The narrative the media pushed is Michael Brown was an innocent black youth who was simply walking down the street and was accosted by a racist cop. They proclaimed he had his hands up telling the officer don't shoot (I am sure you remember "Hands Up, Don't Shoot).
The truth is Michael Brown had strong arm robbed a clerk earlier that day and there was an APB out that matched his description. The police offer, who had just come on shift and had just read the APB, noticed Michael Brown matched the description and pulled up to him in his vehicle to question him. Michael Brown attacked that officer through his car window hitting him several times in the face and tried to go for his gun.
He was not a racist cop who shot an unarmed black man begging for his life. He was a police officer investigating a suspicious person (suspicious in that he matched the description in the APB) who was assaulted by a thug making an attempt to gain control of his side arm.
Trayvon Martin
First things first. You start your post off by stating Trayvon Martin had no criminal record. Trayvon Martin was not killed by police. I was killed by a private citizen named George Zimmerman. That right there tells me you say a lot but hear little.
The narrative the media pushed is that Trayvon Martin was assaulted by an out of control white racist for daring to be in the wrong neighborhood.
The truth is the other person involved in the incident identified as Hispanic not White (he was also a Democrat who voted for Obama and In early 2011 participated in a citizen forum at the Sanford City Hall to protest the beating of a black homeless man by the son of a white Sanford police officer, hardly a man with a history of racism). He was part of a neighborhood watch patrol and confronted Trayvon because he did not recognize him as someone who lived in the neighborhood. The media also failed to state that Trayvon Martin had George Zimmerman (who was physically a lot smaller than Treyvon) on his back ground pounding him before Zimmerman shot him.
I was not there but I am guessing it probably went down like this. Zimmerman confronted Trayvon (who had a legitimate reason for being in the neighborhood as he was staying with family) and was met with a typical mouthy youth. Trayvon probably felt slighted having someone question him. Zimmerman should have backed off right then as most mature adults would have and called the police. Instead he kept pressing Trayvon (who was 17 years old and we all know how volatile youth can be) who retaliated. After he attacked Zimmerman simply shot him to protect himself. Ultimately I think Zimmerman is to blame as he should have been mature enough not to escalate the issue but I don't believe he attacked Trayvon or even approached him simply because he was black.
Then there was the issue of Obama stoking the fires by saying "If I had a son, he'd look like Trayvon". Obama playing identity politics threw gas on an otherwise volatile situation.
Finally there was the issue of the media using a much younger picture of Trayvon to try and garner public sympathy.
Below is a picture of injuries sustained by Zimmerman after Trayvon attacked him.
Eric Garner
Well this story started off with Eric Garner being a peace maker.
He was on the street selling "loosies" which is the practice of private sale of individual cigarettes. Eric witnessed a fight break out and he broke the fight up however the police had already been called. After arriving they attempted to arrest Garner for selling loosies on the charge he was selling cigarettes without stamps (New York City loves those taxes) which they had done many times before. Eric Garner stated he was tired of being harassed and resisted arrest. Eric Garner was a very large man and the police resorted to a choke hold to take him down to the ground. The narrative is a racist cop use an illegal maneuver that resulted in Eric's death.
The truth is Eric Garner did not die on the scene due to a choke hold. He died while being transported to the hospital in an Ambulance. The media failed to disclose Eric Garner was obese, suffered from heart disease, severe asthma, and diabetes. I am sure the choke hold contributed but my belief is if he was not already so unhealthy he most likely would not have died that day. Eric Garner did not die due to abuse from racist police officers. He died because he was a very large man, very unhealthy man resisting arrest and the police had to resort to unsanctioned tactics to get him under control.
Do you think the police should just back off anytime a criminal claims discomfort while resisting arrest?
Why should I believe a damn thing the media says? They have a history of half truths and outright lies.
Do I believe blacks get harsher sentences? I don't know. Maybe they do. But cops do not sentence criminals they only apprehend them. So you tell me why you think we need police reform. Police have NOTHING to do with sentencing so basing your claim off of that is ridiculous. Seems to me you are just repeating a narrative and your statement has no basis in fact. Maybe you should work for the media, you would fit right in.
