Is there anything in the TA to keep the company from selling the E-190's to Republic, and then having them fly for us; ie MidAtlantic???
I always thought it was stupid idea to get them in the first place. Getting rid of a bunch of good Boeing 737's only to add another type of A/C to the fleet made no sense at all.
Actually, I just flew a few trips on the 400's. They were very clean and well kept all around. It would have been MUCH cheaper to spruce the 733's a bit instead of introducing another type of A/C into the fleet. If the company really wanted to streamline the fleet, they could have just added more 319's.You must have not been on a 737 in a while. They used to be good............
On the conference call for the 2nd Qtr. sounds like the 190's could be on the chopping block.
Not sure where you got that. You can google US Airways earnings call transcripts, I did and saw no reference to 190's going. The only thing about fleet composition came from Derek Kerr.
"We did end the quarter with 347 mainline aircraft and air fleet and still plan on having 351 aircraft by the end of 2009. We continue to replace our older 737 and 757 aircraft with new more fuel efficient aircraft, which will reduce cost over time. In the first quarter, we did return five A320s, two 737-300s, and two 757 aircraft, and we took delivery of two A321 aircraft. For the remainder of the year, we plan to retire 20 aircraft; 13 75s, six 73s, and one A320, and add 23 new aircraft. And I’ll talk about financing for those deliveries in a little bit."
