Doug Parker interview on Charlie Rose 3/27

Interesting!------- But did you pickup on the fact that when he was questioned about the Unions, he never mentioned the ground workers, only the pilots, and hostess?

I believe Doug has a great respect for the flight crews, I believe that's because the flight crews have no qualms about disrupting the flight schedule when they're not happy. Where the ground crews grumble but yet we still strive for on time departure, or Doug could care less about ground crews and we don't matter. It's probably the former.

Very Good interview, Doug Parker is so personable, as he was on my trip many years ago when he came up to the F/C galley of the S-80 to chat when he worked for AA. Anyway, I did notice what he said about employees when asked by Charlie Rose, but then he said, that management was easier to move around than Pilots and Flight Attendants. Charlie Rose didn't bring up ground personal specifically, but Doug said since there are only 12 overlapping routes between AA/US that they need everyone, and he also talked about a "no furlough" clause that was just signed.

The interview was very unplifting, and I feel for optimistic about the future of the New American. Hopefully the ground crews will benefit like the flight crews, only time will tell.

I hope you are correct, but tha again, no mention of a no lay off clause for ground workers. And, with US's farmout policy of heavy maintenance, there are questions to be answered!

US can only farm out 50% of billable hours for base mtc, AA's 35% includes heavy and line and total spend, so US' will farm out less than AA.

The US CBA states they have to keep CLT and PIT open, and with the size of the fleet I doubt AA can close TUL, but its only got a two year guarantee I think.

It will all depend on the JCBA once the companies are merged and union issues solved.

Yes sir! ----Two years. MCIE had a twenty five year lease. But that didn't stop them from closing it, and walking away!

Doesn't the numbers provided by the TWU state that in 2 years TULE will lose AMTs because of the new airplanes? Please correct me if I'm mistaken.

well from what I understand iam142.org has asked the nmb to release them from negotiations.

I read article a couple weeks ago where doug talked about, you cann't except your people to be happy and work hard when they are not getting paid like united and delta. I guess he meant the pilots and flt attendents!

DP can do no wrong at this point, if the new AA crashes, he sells cannibalized parts to DL then becomes CEO there.

Smoke and mirrors, that's what these guys know.

Paul------- As a former member of the IAM, distirct 142, local 1111, and 1360, and those former TWA AMT's, and Hostess, know all too well how the IAM represented them! They abandoned us, and profited handsomely in doing so!

I beg to differ MCI, TWA was rotting fruit on a vine when AMR purchased it. Between the Crandall & Icahn deals and the host of other leeches that occupied the corner offices in STL, the IAM did well by the Ramp Service Clerk and Maintenance Groups they represented, getting 25% Senority at some stations.

AMR could have walked and we would be just wannabe airline retirees, like the poor bastards at PanAm. BTW, our entire system of government, business and labor is full of corruption, its called capitalism. It's one big circle jerk.

Just be happy you're retired like me and no longer feel like a turd fearing the next flush may be you.

Now back to the golf course.... :)
