During the Wright Amendment hearing yesterday, AMR CEO Gerald Arpey said "repealing the law would undermine billions of dollars of investment at D/FW Airport. He said those investments were made under the premise that Wright would remain in place forever."

"Forever?" Isn't that a long, long time? Like almost as long as United has been in bankruptcy?

Is it possible that he's conducting his entire strategic thinking with the belief that the aviation industry, not to mention the world's economy, is a static, never changing entity? Sounds to me that he's wearing blinders, perhaps the same model that DFW's Fegan and Cox wear!

That or a business man using every arguement possible to protect our comapnys investments over the years at DFW.

There's a difference between an "argument" and a "fairy tale." Based on your reasoning, SWA has the right to claim that they believed Love Field would remain open "forever" to protect their massive investment in facilities at that airport over the years.

After the Federal courts determined (8 times!) that SWA had the right to operate at Love Field, who would have thought that Congress would change the laws to alter the playing field?
