What years did TWA fly PHL-LHR (this would be pre-1990)
Did AA ever fly PHL-LHR after TWA sold the slots to AA?
If AA did not operate it, did AA sell the London authority to USAirways, or did TWA sell it as a condition to get the other LHR slots sold?

It was operated for a time, but discotinued. Don't know what happened with the authority, but I imagine AA used the slots in another market.
 
With the 1991 transfer, either DOJ or DOT didn't allow STL or PHL-LHR to go along with the original purchase, and Icahn wouldn't lower the price, so AA proceeded to take everything else except STL and PHL.

USAir wound up with authority for PHL-LGW (don't recall, but I think Icahn got paid for those as well), but wound up having to give those up a couple years later in exchange for DOT/DOJ approving the BA investment.

That's when AA wound up getting approval to operate PHL-LHR, starting in spring or summer 1994. (this was at the same time as BNA-LGW and RDU-LGW). AA138 BNALGW and AA006 PHLLHR were both gone by Sept 1995.

The PHL-LHR flight originated in ORD, am I correct? Or the plane flew in from ORD then went to LHR, and vice versa?

So when did US get the authority back? They've been flying PHL-LGW since at least 1996.

I remember. It was another $50 million to line up Icahn's pockets. Not one red cent of it was reinvested in the airline.
 
We(TWA)did BWI-LON (I forget which airport) for quite a while as well. I believe that also went to USair.

Back in the olden days I did a lot of PHL-LHR on the 707. It was operated as a double crossing; JFK-LHR-FRA, FRA-LHR-PHL, PHL-LHR-FRA, FRA-LHR-JFK. What a blast we had on those trips.

I remember the day of the first AA PHL-LHR flight. There was all of the fanfare lined up and BA, already doing PHL-LHR brought in Concorde for a 'special event' from IAD and parked it at the gate right next to AA's LHR flight. Concorde was their for viewing at the gate and ended up doing a special VIP flight, basically for US management & other PHL airport folks from PHL to IAD o/w. They had to find their way back to PHL.
