Delta Pilots Agree to TA

I thought the guiding principle in Chap 11 was not what the other guys make but what will it take to pay your bills? Has a pay raise ever happened through BK? No.

If that were the case then the Judge could order Exxon to lower the cost of fuel based upon what the debtor says he can afford to pay and still make $3 bilion in profits.

Has anyone ever entered BK with over $4 billion in cash and asked the court to abrogate deals based upon a business plan to make 17% profits?

Has anyone evered BK with the lowest wages in the industry and had contracts abrogated?

There are loads of "firsts" in this BK.

Untrue, Bob. The Judge can only order other companies to live up to their agreements with AA and AA also has to live up to the agreement, he can't order them to sell their products to AA at any price of AA's choosing. Other than the pre-bankruptcy unpaid bills, if AA were to tell Exxon that it would only pay 50 cents/gallon for jet-A, Exxon could refuse to sell fuel to AA. If AA told Boeing that it would only pay $10 million for a 738 and $20 million for a 773, Boeing could refuse to sell the planes to AA.

In 1113 proceedings, the Judge isn't ordering anyone to work for AA on AA's terms. You and every other employee whose pay and/or benefits are cut can leave any time you want, just like any other vendor can refuse to sell their product to AA if AA doesn't want to pay the price agreed to or charged. Heck, any employee is free to quit at any time even if their pay and/or benefits aren't cut.

So the employees are not being treated any differently than anyone else that does business with AA.

You might not want that.

Don't forget that Delta AMT's are non union, hate unions as a whole, and are combined with the scabs of Northwest.
not all of us are evil dirty union hating scabs. (and with some of the old folks (finally) leaving this could be a great chance for change)

Jim,

You are correct. Looking at the thread now in the evening, I realize my thread title was poorly written. I looked briefly to edit it, but had no luck (Anybody knows the way to change it, please post)

No biggie - I'm the last person to be throwing stones over the way something is worded. I just wondered if I'd missed something.
