Delta Invites Employees to Volunteer to Help Clean Aircraft

Companies don't have hearts or souls! It's capitalism pure and simple. What me to clean the freaking plane???? What's the pay?

The Outlaw Bikers say it best, Arse, Gas or Grass, NOBODY rides for free.

When I'm feeling charitable I volunteer with the Salvation Army, NOT some money grubbing, customer unfriendly enterprise like an airline.

Bet you ain't seeing Grinstein with a mop and a bucket. Leadership begins at the top.
I'll agree with that, sort of. I will cross my seatbelt before de-planing, clear the "stuff" from the seat back pocket and make my area presentable, even though it may not have been like that when I Boarded. At times, if I pre-board, I will help the F/As clean the Cabin if needed. I don't ask for anything, No $$$, No Free Cocktail, just want our Pax to have a Presentable airplane to ride on. Ask me to come out on a Third Shift to help and I will tell my Mangmt to KMA.

Delta Invites Employees to Volunteer to Help Clean Aircraft in Effort to Boost Morale

Delta Air Lines Inc. said Friday it is inviting employees to volunteer to help clean aircraft in an effort to boost morale and improve customer service at the nation's third-largest carrier.

Employees who volunteer aren't being paid for the work, but the Atlanta-based company said the effort is not a cost-cutting initiative.

The initiative launched earlier this week includes increasing the frequency of aircraft deep cleans and refurbishing aircraft interiors.

Delta said it is not eliminating its overnight cleaning crews, and it said it has committed millions of dollars in additional resources to support the cleaning effort.

This is some kind of joke right ?

Nope...in fact it seems that these VOLUNTEERS (not mandated as so many try to make you believe) have had a great time...so it seems like morale has improved for those. For those that constantly feel like they are being taken advantage of, they don't participate and morale is no worse for the wear. What is wrong with that? Sure, unions have taught us that if it isn't a negotiated duty, it sure as hell shouldn't be done, but DL has always been different in this respect and is the only legacy where people have historically been willing to go above and beyond that little contract.

Leave it to you to turn this into another opportunity for a union bashing campaign.
Give it a break. This has nothing to do with union mentality. I hear just as many flight attendants and mechanics calling BS on this one, and last time I checked, they aren't unionized.

Leave it up to you to ignore the fact that I pointed out that DL union employees do not (historically) have this mentality as this was a rebuttal to the usual union suspects from other carriers that said "are you kidding me?!" In fact, the part that you quoted clearly said that DL does not have that mentality so don't turn it into another DL mgmt bashing tirade. For once I was on your side 100%.

And please tell me what is BS about this? DL has not reduced or terminated cabin cleaning services and is only doing this as additional heavy cleaning of the interiors. The ridiculous rumors spread about DL completely getting rid of cabin cleaning services is comical and only propoganda spread by the most disgruntled employees (who, IMHO should just leave if they are so miserable that they must resort to lies). As I clearly stated, this is a volunteer program so those that benefit from this kind of activity can volunteer. Those that don't want to spend a few hours of one evening cleaning an A/C should not volunteer. That simple. Call "BS" all you want but it is a pretty ridiculous rallying point since it is a volunteer program and replaces no services...this is only complimentary. What in the world is there to complain about?! Just don't do it if you don't want to. Nothing is compulsary with this minor program.

Now if the volunteers would only empty their own waste paper baskets prior to cleaning the planes something positive would be accomplished!
