Cwa Contract

What the h*ll is there to update on?

Mgmt has made it perfectly clear how they feel about the CWA covered employees. I think red-headed step children pretty much covers it. No offense intended to hair color.

Mgmt does not want to hear any of CWA's ideas and it is all posturing on their part. They put an offer down that they knew from the beginning would not be considered. $13.10 an hour, outsource if cheaper regardless of the contract, much higher health premiums and copays, no shift or job differential, and the list goes on. Puhlease......

Is there really any need to even ask? The writing is on the wall. The CWA group is finished! It has been made quite clear with all of the ongoing changes and technology that is being implemented daily. Don't forget all that has been said by our previous "leader" and current "leader" and not to mention the wonderful lot of concessions layed out by management to the CWA and the non existant negotiations.

It is over for the CWA. Vote "NO"...if it even gets to that point!

Speaking of negotiations...does anyone know if anything is scheduled for the AFA or CWA? What are they waiting for? Christmas? Or does everything depend on what the Pilots give up? Maybe management is trying to extract more from the Pilots so they have more bargaining room with the other groups. They "think" the other groups will eventually be frightened into submission. NOT!!!!!!

Vote "NO"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If it ever gets to that point!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

CWA and management to meet again on Transformation Plan...
CWA'ers and US Airways management will meet next on Thursday, September 9, to continue discussions on the company's proposed Transformation Plan. CWA analysts and US Airways analysts have had several exchanges of data during the last week, and continue to try to resolve discrepancies in the costing of various proposals. Of course we will continue to keep you informed of further meetings with management on these issues.

CWA wins important discharge arbitration involving waiver codes...
Arbitrator William Hockenberry and the System Board Arbitration ruled this week that a 17-year PIT CSA (CSS for nearly 15 years), was discharged in 2002 without "just cause". As a result of the Board's decision, our CWA member will be returning to work at her former position with no loss of seniority, no associated discipline level and shall receive partial back pay (due to a lesser infraction). CWA's grievance challenged management's allegation that the CSA (at that time, a CSS), violated several company policies when she failed to enter fare waiver codes on certain customer PNR's.
Four PIT CSS's provided strong testimony in defense of their co-worker's character, and disputing management's testimony about waiver code training, matching fares, and service failure waivers. The witnesses further provided credible testimony specific to local and corporate management requests to provide similar fare or first class waivers for customers.
CWA Counsel and Staff may have successfully argued this case in favor of our member, but the courage and support of co-worker witnesses, who chose not to sit silently by while such injustices are dished out to fellow employees, reveals the true strength of our Union. Good job and thanks to everyone involved in this victory!

We'll keep you informed.
