Crossroads Reached - Path moving forward clearly defined

We have reached a crossroad in contract negotiations. America West has chosen to take the stance that our contract is not worth one red cent. That Our Flight Attendants are not worthy of a new contract that addresses wage increases, health care benefits, work rule enhancements, or merger protections. That our Flight Attendants are not worthy of a basic standard of living raise. In the Company's eyes it's just not worth it.

America West, you are sadly mistaken in this belief!

On Monday, September 12, 2005, the MEC directed the AFA International Office to file for mediation on behalf of the Flight Attendants of America West Airlines.
Under the auspices of the National Mediation Board, a mediator will be assigned and scheduled bargaining sessions will be resumed. We will continue the negotiation process through mediation. Our Flight Attendants have earned the right to be treated with dignity and respect and deserve the enhancements that our NT have bargained in good faith for the last 18 months to achieve.

In the mean time we will focus on merger protections in the form of Fence Agreements.
The Merger Committee will be meeting the week of September 20th in Washington, DC to continue talks that began in August.

Now is the time for the true strength of our Union be known. One Voice; United and Focused.
You are that strength! Step Up and Stay Informed.

In Solidarity and Unity,

Your MEC Officers
