If the company made the non labor changes that are necessary, and then after that things were still bad, im sure labor would be more willing to make changes.

Every indication shows that U has no interest in saving money they just want to get rid of employees.

Based on 1Q04 numbers, if the entire $800 million in concessions is granted it will make about 1.25 cents difference in CASM, bringing it to about 10.45 cents. That's leaves a pretty big gap between US and AWA to be bridged somehow.

The airline wants to cut $1.5 billion in annual costs, with labor unions bearing almost $800 million of the burden.

It sounds like US is in fact trying to find non-union related cost cuts to the tune of at least $700 million. IMO, US does not have the time to seek one and then the other. Both labor and non-labor costs need to be done at the same time or US may not be flying come winter.

🙂 aerosmith, my sentiments exactly.....

Buy me out and give me something of value!

Maybe that is the way it is supposed to be.

Companies come and go all the time. With so much dissention among employees, disarray at every level, constant and continued lack of leadership with not even a tinge of vision, like a giant cat chasing its tail running out of energy teetering at the abyss. This once mighty company is fast becoming a memory, and a bad one for too many.

Hey usairways_vote_no:

If you are still working for US Airways, why not take the bull by the horns?

What's the point of staying with a company you don't enjoy working for, don't respect your fellow co-workers and just aren't having a good time? Just "liquidate" yourself from the employment roll and move on to another job where you will find some satisfaction.

Gee dea I thought everyone could vote like they wanted. I didn't realize at first about this poll that the bankrupt answer didn't fit. Please go to the poll I started you can vent your anti-chapter 7 sentiment there. There are a lot of voters that think Usairways is going Chapter 7

As I once told edited by moderator that is an invalid argument. I do enjoy working for U and I do respect my supervisors and co-workers.

Thanks everyone for your votes. I tried to think of various options, EXCLUDING liquidation. I just felt that was TOO pessimsitic.
Cheers,

usairways_vote_no,

I apologize for snapping at you yesterday. I was having a very bad day. Like most employees, I give 110% at work every day. I enjoy my job, respect and care about most of the employees and want to see this company succeed.

I believe our contracts are plenty flexible enough now to provide the relief management says it needs. We don't need new contracts, the currents ones just need to be applied properly. Also, I see a real disconnect as to why an executive contract is honored and ours are not. Especially an executive who failed to perform. My stars, if the rest of the workers bees performed as they did, planes would never leave the gates!

I don't want to see our maintenance farmed out. Maybe it's just an emotional response from me, but our AMT's are the best and I have to wonder if some third-party guy, who doesn't have the emotional investment in our equipment is going to provide the same loving care as our own do.

I don't understand why the money-saving ideas from employees, the ones who see "real life on the line" every day are basically rejected out of hand.

The worst of it is, I know we have a good product, or at least we used to. I want feel the pride that was once US Airways. Going out of business like some mangy dog galls me.

So, please accept my apology.

Dea

DEA wooyaa what a surprize, its not often you see an apology on here and I am not sure I even deserve one. After all these boards are made for bashing and thats just what they'll do..... just/kidding... I have done my share on here to 2 certain posters on here.

I feel your passion for company and all those reasons you stated are just the reason I do not see it continuing on as a going concern. The company just seems to want to stick it to employees and not even use what they already have.

apology accepted if I even needed one thanks

Although the company wants to lower the CASM costs, they never seem to add that we carry freight and mail. It's a vast amount that should be included some how. Even though it varys. We used to have A/C fly from CLT to LGW, the cargo was packed to the gills. All the passengers we just gravy. But Im sure we don't get the money from that anymore. 😛h34r:
