Christmas Presents From Legacy Carriers

because Chapter 11 is nearly fatal disease for airlines. Many airline managements know that the short-term benefits that might be obtained are more than overshadowed by the difficulty in getting out of C11. How many investors do you see willing to provide exit financing to either UA or US? As bad as the business is, the solvent four legacy airlines don't have to design business plans that will show profits. All they have to do is show that they can pay their bills.

WHAT WE NEED IS BK REFORM. THEY DID THIS AFTER LORENZO, BUT DIDN'T GO FAR ENOUGH. THEY SHOULDN'T ALLOW AIRLINES TO CONTINUE TO OPERATE INDEFINETLY IN BK. GIVE THESE GUYS 6 MORE MONTHS AND THEN PULL THE PLUG. EVERYONE WILL BE BETTER OFF

The draw back is that Ual ans Usair may not be around long. Even in bk Ual has yet to turn a prifit. Financing after bk may be a problem as well. Ua has not been nice to lessors, lenders and airports. Any favors after bk may be out the window. New planes may be years away from happening. Just any number of things may happen that drive the bk from a 11 to a 7.

I don't think it's something to wish or hope for. Sometimes what goes around comes around. You never know in this world.

You made some pretty bold predictions of how legacy carrier troubles would trickle down and hurt SWA in the future. Concessions at the legacy carriers, already came to the bargaining table in recent contract discussions with workgroups at SWA, but gains were made because of the strong connection between productivity and profitability.

IMHO, there are systemic differences between SWA and the legacies which make your jaded, bitter posts untrue.

Conversly, the latest flight attendant negotiation took legacy management's ability to point to SWA, as a lower paid example, away.

I'm constantly amazed that, when talking about how they have to get costs down, legacy management seems to be solely focused on labor costs, rather than addressing the whole of their system, other than the examples I cited.

My post sincerely meant I wouldn't wish their losses on any of the hard-working employees at ANY carrier. I read your post as an attack, a bitter expression of frustration, and you're right, I'm not mentallly where you are.

Merry Christmas.

The difference between LUV and the majors is not only the cost of the hub and spoke system, but that LUV has been able to grow 10% or more per year. That alon will keep salaries high.

Mark my word...every dog has his day...AND all good things come to an end. It's amazing how a string of incidents, change of management, or a mustard yellow and canyon blue 737 smashed into the ground killing all onboard can change things quickly. Bizman, WNforLife, be careful of your arrogance. As cruel as the above sounds, I have NEVER in my life seen any good that comes from attitudes like that. You are living in a dreamland if you think your dark days will not come. I have never, EVER seen such arrogance on the boards. You should truely be ashamed!!

1st amendment:

in case you hadn't heard...wn_for_life is not associated with Southwest Airlines Co.

I think the correct term is pot-banger, but I've heard others.

Your best bet is to listen to folks like SWAFA30, Opnl_Guy, WN_Jet_Doc, WN_Bubble_boy, etc.

Nobody wishes anyone any ill.....including the passengers.

If Southwest has a single most significant redeeming feature it is the ability to walk up and buy a ticket for the same day without looking for financing.

Thanks for the correction. I am sooo glad to know that the fine folks of LUV don't think that way. I don't blame LUV for US Airway's ills. Hell, if I could take my 18 years of senority over with you guys I would leave US, but I'm too old to make $20000 again. Lord, I don't even know if I would be hired. Anyway, the best for ALL of you at SWA and again, thanks for letting me know that, but to that person..shame!!

Yes, listen to ELP, anyone who makes posts like "wnforlife", is just looking to stir up trouble....in other words they are more than likely a troll. Just ignore the pinhead.

I don't know of anyone that wishes ill will for the employees of U or anyother carrier out there. A lot of us used to work for other carriers prior to WN, so we know what its like, or what is was like. Its gotten so bad, especially at U, I really feel for you guys.
