USA320Pilot:

You have absolutely no idea what you're talking about with respect to yields. Check out the Air Transport Association web site under "Economics", then "ATA Monthly & Quarterly Reports", then the "Passenger Yield - monthly" report. That report (based on data from 8 major carriers -- AA, AS, CO, DL, HP, NW, UA and US) shows domestic year-over-year yields increasing for the most recent five months (July through November) where data is available, Atlantic yields up four of those five months, and Latin and Pacific yields both up in November. And remember, domestic operations are, by far, the largest component of system operations, and the Atlantic region is the largest of the 3 international regions, thus indicating that monthly yields have increased for at least 4, and probably all five, of the most recent months shown.

Also review Delta's just-released 4th quarter financial data press release (here) that shows its yield increasing on both a quarterly and annual basis in 2003.

Specifically to United, look at its 3rd quarter financial data press release (here) showing quarterly yield up by about 5%, its October monthly operating report (here) showing RASM up by 9% (and with some calculations, yield up by about 2%), and its November monthly operating report (here)showing RASM up by 14% (and with some calculations, yield up by about 6%). And when United issues its 4th quarter financial data in the next week or two, I predict that it will show a quarterly yield increase of at least 5% as well.

So in the future, it would be very helpful if you actually based your comments on the facts, not on wishful thinking!
