Bankruptcy in 2024

At this point bankruptcy seems inevitable with or without the acquisition of Spirit. Currently they are bleeding cash on a daily basis. Their costs have risen dramatically, not to mention the agreement Hayes brokered just to get the Spirit BOD and shareholders to hook up. So, if the DOJ rules against the deal, they will need to back out of that deal and the best way is to add them to the long list of debtors they already have by way of a bk court. If the deal goes through, they are buying another carrier who can't make a profit and has seen revenue drop dramatically in 2023. So two money losing carriers would need to stop the bleeding before they could turn things around (which once the dust settles they probably could.) And it seems only a bk judge could give them the relief they most desperately need. And let's not forget new Jetblue CEO Joanna Geraghty and her famous mantra to employees over the years...Contracts are made to be broken. Her words, not mine.

It definitely seems like a real possibility given how much their costs have increased lately. Acquiring Spirit would make things even more difficult in the short term. I guess we'll have to wait and see how the DOJ rules on the deal. Fingers crossed they can avoid bk somehow, but you make a good case for why it might end up being necessary. Should be interesting to watch how it all plays out!
Oh look another new account for SWAMT aka SWAMECH.

Dude can’t even hide how obvious his writing is.

Hi swampy.

Just a casual aviation forum poster here. Not sure what the deal is with falsely accusing others but it's getting old. Let's get back on topic discussing the airline news instead of finger-pointing, yeah?

swamt just go back to your original handle. Stop with the agenda of bashing other Unions and maybe 🤔 we’ll be civil and engage with you.

Now on topic:

The Merger was denied. 🙅‍♂️ Spirit stock is down 50% but JetBlue is up 7%. It seems the market still sees value in JetBlue but not Spirit.
