BA 282 (LAX-LHR) diverted to Iceland: off-duty cabin crew 'slit hisr wrists'

Cabin Crew worker?  Is this a new title for flight attendant, or is this a position needed just because of the A380's size?  With an a/c that size I could see someone who worked full-time just keeping the trash receptacles emptied and the toilets clean.
