B717 Question

Can anyone in maintenance settle a disagreement for me? I was discussing the MD-95(B717) with a co-worker and the subject of manual reversion came up. His position is that all flight control cables had been removed and that the plane is strictly "fly-by-wire", Mine is that the flight control cables are still in place, hence "manual reversion".


Who is right??? :unsure:

That may true but I only went to the Boeing AMM Chapter 27 "Flight Controls" B-717 Fleet to confirm Cables. I think that's where we looked. If you'd like, I can ask our Boeing Rep to save us all time and get their response but that will be in about 2 weeks as I am flying back to ATL tomorrow and going on vacation. Have a good week.....

Yes the spoilers and throttles are FBW. The rest is similar to the DC-9 systems. HTH

What do you think the "DC" prefix of DC-9 means? "Direct-Cable" of course

And the "MD" stands for "Manually Driven."

BTW, A cable is a "Rope" in the elevator business!!

Thanks "Otis" for clearing the air. I always thought DC = Douglas Corporation and MD = McDonald Douglas Corporation. Now I also know what a Rope means on an Elevator, what an enlightening day. I'll sleep well....
