B-737 Delivery Slots

Besides, the 737 will be obsolete in 2012. The 797 will be the one to watch, the key to AA's future.

You can bet very large sums of money that the 797 (or whatever Boeing calls the replacement for the 737) will be launched with a large order from Southwest Airlines. SWA management has already said that they are extremely interested in a 737 replacement with 787 technology.

<_< ----- More flights going into Love Field? At this rate, they'll be numero uno fairly soon!
Well they are numero uno on much now. Fly more passengers domestically than any other airline, most profitable, highest market cap, low DOT complaints......... And with this order fastly overcoming the 500 mark on number of aircraft.

Says who? And why on January 1, 2012 will the 737 suddenly become "obsolete"? Enlighten us, oh wise one.

B

Maybe ol' Brian's one of those who thinks that the world will end in 2012. It's a crackpot theory supposedly based on the Mayan calendar or some such...'It must be true, I heard it on Coast to Coast AM with George Nouri(sp?)".

If that's the case, I guess ALL planes'll be obsolete in 2012....

I think he/she is implying that they think Boeing will have a replacement for the 737 by then. It has been talked about. Lighten up Francis!!

I just saw in the SWA 2005 Annual Report that SWA has 36 planes for delivery in 2007 plus 20 purchase options. Does that mean that SWA could possibly add 56 planes in 2007? That would be better than 1 plane every 7 days, WOW!! just wondering......

And yet some people still deny that the USA domestic market suffers from overcapacity.

B6 has 185 airplanes on firm order (95 A320s and 90 190s).

Something's gotta give. Either WN and B6 slow down their expansion or the legacies speed up thier shrinkage/consolidation.
