AWA AND EMPLOYEES SUPPORT HURRICANE RELIEF EFFORTS
The airline and AWA employees are actively supporting the Hurricane Katrina relief efforts. Yesterday, America West announced a $10,000 contribution on behalf of its employees to the American Red Cross National Disaster Relief Fund.
In addition, the Do Crew, AWA’s employee volunteer corps, are helping the Red Cross and Salvation Army chapters in Phoenix and Las Vegas with fundraising efforts by providing volunteers for telethons that are being held in the two cities through Friday.

The airline is also encouraging its frequent flyers to donate to the “Miles of Hopeâ€￾ program. The program allows FlightFund members to donate their miles to the American Red Cross to provide travel for volunteers who are mobilized to disaster areas. In Arizona, those miles are also used to help transport domestic violence victims to safe harbor. Those interested in donating their FlightFund miles may do so at www.americawest.com.

The best way to help the thousands of people affected by Hurricane Katrina is to make an online contribution to the National Disaster Relief Fund at www.redcross.org or www.salvationarmyusa.org. You can also help by calling (800) HELP-NOW (435-7669) or (800) SAL-ARMY (725-2769). The American Red Cross National Disaster Relief Fund enables the Red Cross to provide shelter, food, counseling and other assistance to those in need. The Salvation Army Disaster Relief Fund provides assistance to individuals and families and puts money back into the economy of those communities affected by the disaster.
