just found out...AVP getting 737-300 back in Feb as PHILA originating flight....i guess now that they beat us down enough to the pittance wage and benfit plans were good enough to handle the big ones again...it sucks......
Wow! What great utilization of a/c. PHL to AVP what's that a 10 minute flight? You think you can handle it? Maybe U will start flying your A330's from ROC to SYR. What a joke. U is just showing again and again that its a regional flying ML planes.
Gee! I'm shocked this outfit even has enough aircraft to even put a jet back into these two cities. Just may be the ceo would have enough guts to fly into the AVP and ABE stations to visit!
AVP? Isnt that Wilkes Barre Scranton or whatever? How are we flying a 737 from there to PHL? But RJs to ATL and MSP. Send that 737 somewhere west of the Mississippi, I heard there are some people out there.
Is any station aside from the hubs safe from the mainline express classification? Scary stuff. I still dont really understand how different size aircraft flying into a station means lower pay, especially when it normally means more frequencies and alot more hassle dealing with Express.
as far as I know AVP did extremely well with the originating jet to phl. But as for the wages, they,as I understand it, are being paid the same amount as Wal-mart because they were one of the first stations to go express. I dont believe any station is safe from the idiots running this airline.
AVP is part of the first group of 7 or 8 cities to be reclassified as Mainline/Express...They did well on the first 2 originators to PHL and Pit ...but after 911 things started to drop.....and the competition of Comair didnt help as there fare structure changed and pax started looking at rates more closely....we lost our edge to them when the jets were dumped...now its an all RJ station..but with the return of the JET then we may see some pax return...along with some kind of cargo operation for Human Remains which is a real problem with all the funeral directors in the area having to have to go to PHL for the bodies etc......but with half the station being new-hires with 8 months or less seniority its gonna be interesting to see how this plays out....and the 13.01 hr for the 20yr agents who stayed is still a very hard thing to adjust to....Skywest is coming in to replace Atlantic Coast as the United Express operator and they top out around 14.00hr after 11yrs and the supervisors get an additional 2.25 hr on top of that.....we get .58 cents above 13.01.....the hit was just too hard for this mainline/express thing...I believe the union let us down in that regard ....with all the cities I believe that are gonna get jammed with this there will be a lot of agents wishing the payscale was more divided.....like more of a 15.00hr express/ 18-19.00 hr mainline....more agents will be inclined to stick around instead of leaving for just 2.00 hr more....time will tell how this plays out but the numbers shouldve been jockeyed a little better since express could become the majority in due time....just my opinion.........
Well put there Rob. The company threw a low ball wage at the unions, and they accepted it without any fight. They figured at the time than not many would be effected, therefore a YES vote on the contract would slide thru. As time goes on and more stations are converted, look out for an uprising towards the CWA & IAM for shafting us with wages $3-$4 lower than some NON-UNION Carriers earn. And to think that I pay dues for this representaton!!!!!
Golden: Is CLE losing the jet for good or just for a few months to kill the wages and then bring it back? Thatseems to be the game that the thugs are doing because my station is getting the Airbus 319 back on Feb.7th as a terminator to make up the originator on the 8th.
Robbed,
CLE went Mainline Express in June. They and MKE were the first to fall under the Mainline Express classification. They won't be the last. If Dave gets his 465 RJ's there will be very few mainline cities left. US will probably shift mainline aircraft as passenger demand dictates. They can do this per the restructuring agreement of Jan. 2003. This company will continue to lose good, experienced employees because of this. God knows we lost enough of them in CLE.
Hey Art...I wish I was working on Saturday...Ive been following this site for couple years now and it wouldve been nice to meet you.....yeah the airport is small but we have 2 jetways and handled 5 jets a day approx 1 yr ago....and there building a brand new airport from the ground up right next to the current one with 6 or 7 jetways....reconfigured for RJ's of course......anyway say hello next time we drop u in there for whatever reason...........Bob C.....
