Any word on ATA buying/merging with world this coming week?

It happened today! A strange combination of airlines, if you ask me, with lots of fleet overlap. I wonder what the strategy here will be.

Well, all three are heavily into military charters, so I guess there's some synergy there...

Anyone know how compatible ATA's DC-10's (ex-NW) are with World's?

I wonder what the long term plan for North American's 767's will be?

I read on another thread that ATA stopped DC-10 training of their crews. Is that true and what's the reason? I do understand that you can't fly a new type of airplane in your fleet for the military for the first year of operation, but surely ATA knew this?

Maybe ATA can get around that by "shifting" the DC-10's over to World, and having their crews fly them? Just a thought....

🙂 🙂 The new co should merge ATA w/ World and North American. Possibly rename it
" American Trans World Airways "...catchy name B) B) ...They could keep the globe that World has- its very recognizable and cool. They could be the largest charter airline in the World.

If you merge the three brands, you can't whip-saw the pilot groups over pay, working conditions, etc., and have one group fly the others' routes during a strike. It's another great BOHICA moment in American aviation.
