Have you noticed over the past few months that the APFA hotline is not being updated on Friday's? It seems that they're trying harder and harder to keep f/a's on furlough and inactive status out of touch with current issues. Today is Saturday, July 17, 2004, and it still has the July 9, 2004, update on the phone and website. We pay our dues to have a union and to pay officers to do their jobs! We all know they don't care about us anymore. Call the APFA at (800) 395-APFA and complain about this.

Don't forget to vote NO on the proposed changes to the APFA Constitution, your career depends on it!

Word is they are going to faze out the website--cost effective..? oh, yeah
Another way to cut us off. Anyone else heard this?

It is not a conspiracy, they have always been a day or two late for the past ten years. You probably just haven't noticed since it really wasn't relevant at the time. Not to defend thier shoddy work, but I honestly believe it is just the way things have always been. You are right though, call and complain.

I think two National Officers have to approve a hotline before it can go out to the membership, and we all know how well THEY work (or should I say DON'T WORK) together!

I'm surprised the electricity is still getting paid for.... :p

You guys....as a recent furlough and a newly recalled F/A this IS the current tactic being out put out by the APFA....Sitting in LGA opps ( Actually called LGA hotel since most of us are sleeping there now ), Senior F/A's at AA, who should have retired by now,l are actually telling those who have returned from a leave of absence, in some cases in excess of over 3 years, to vote YES on this ballot. I personally screamed at one of them today in operations, and blantely told her where she and her co-horts could go.... THis ballott is nothing, but a blatent move by this " so called Union" to keep any TWA f/a from ever being recalled back to the line at AA. Not to mention, this directly effects those Naatives who are still on furlough. Without a doubt, no matter what anyone thinks, TWA will return back to the line at AA. It has been onl,,y one year , and already we have seen two recalls. Also, we are still short F/A's system wide...I have been re-assigned twice since my return back to the line this month at AA. This is exactly what the company is counting on . To divide the membership ,and that's exactly what they are doing.. When I post on here that the F/A's at AA are the only individuals who care about themselves, and that's it....I am correct! Sadly to say,,,,I now belong to that group of individuals. I think things should be different, as well as, my classmates ,but we are only a small group in a big sea of senior f/a's who really have no idea...Naatives.?.This is no longer a SENIORITY issue....If you think that it is then get over it...Seniority ,was decided and ratified Sept. 10 2001. This a senior vs junior issue and the fact remains your " Union " officers are a hell of a lot more senior then you will ever be,,,,This is nothing more then personal biases getting in the way of benefitting the entire F/A group as a whole.....I only pray it will get better,,,,Guess what? It will! Jim and those still awaiting your letter...Trust me...It's in the mail! Watch out APFA....Your best days are long behind you....May justice prevail!!

Ed, I believe this current ballot issue is not about seniority but about power and greed.
These APFA officials who authored most of these proposed constitutional changes are doing so to
1) save their butts because of the ongoing lawsuits...if it is voted in giving the BOD authority to shorten the balloting, then the courts will not be impressed with a lawsuit that is based on constitutional violations due to the balloting last year being shortened from 30 days to 15.
2) prevent F/A's from ever bringing charges against their union for constitutional violations for fear of becoming financially devestated - see Article VII, Section 7, a thru c of the proposed changes.
3) choose their own negotiators - this is ridiculous. It sets up a scenario where the chosen negotiators are indebted to the president and BOD and not to the membership. It would be kind of like the president of the United States picking our congressmen/women and senators. Nothing will get accomplished except for their agenda, not what the membership wants.

I see these things as ego/power issues.
Also, Ed, I want you to know that those who have fought so hard to bring about justice after last year's travesty are mostly senior F/A's. Not all of us are like those you have run into in operations. But, I admire your hutspah. Keep it up.

BTW, are you the same Ed as the Ed from Palm Springs?
Anyway, I am glad you are back on the line.

So you screamed at someone because they have decided to vote differently from you or because they were trying to convince other people to vote opposite your agenda (seeing that you are on this BB doing the same for your agenda).
And you are touting something about "rights" correct?
Ion't get it. <_<

What do you "need" to get? Are you a flight attendant or even an employee of AA?

Looking at the POINT of of my question, what difference does it make.
Are you the internet police or a wanna be cyber thug?
And in reality I REALLY do "get it". Just wanted to make it clear, so everyone else could see the hypocrisy!

latreal,

You ask, "Looking at the POINT of of my question, what difference does it make."

None of us care what your "point" is, because it has nothing to do with you or anything that involves you. Our point is that we don't care what you think. This is our issue and it is OUR issue to fix. Not yours.

Ed had every right to try and wake up the AA f/a he encountered. It is OUR career that it involves and if we have to yell from the highest mountain to fight for our rights, we will. It is our duty to our fellow flight attendants. BTW, Good job, Ed. Keep the faith, there are others that understand it and we will be back to fly by your side!

Ahh, yes...that old chestnut.

For those of you keeping score at home, the translation of that sentence is "You're right, and we have no counterargument, so we'll try to shut you down by telling you that you are irrelevant, hoping that the accusation will spill over into the point that we're trying to deny ever was made."

absolutely!....you can be sure that the name calling will start shortly.

For those that don't already know, latreal's posts and comments on this forum are worthless. He has only tried to "stir the pot", and cause trouble for years. He is not a flight attendant and has no vested interest in our profession. His posts are worthless and he is better left ignored.

just like the other posts, YOURS 1s evading the point of the post which makes yours just as WORTHLESS. What about my post stirred the pot?
My post touched a nerve, huh?
THE TRUTH does that some time.
