Any inside on recalls for furloughed east FA this year. I would expect a couple hundred at the beginning of summer. With the E190 they should have a handful of them. Any thoughts or info? And please dont respond by saying move on or why do want to come back. Im sick of hearing that from the miserable senior ones that should just quit. I love this job and am going to come back bringing my passion and a positive attitude. Happy new year

I would assume with the e190 deliveries, A321 deliveries, addition of seasonal flying to europe, attrition, etc. that you should see significant recalls. We are recalling ~35 pilots/month now. I hope for all furloughees to return in 2007. Hang in there.

In addition to what Veteran said, I heard that 130 flight attendants decided to retire at the end of the year (today I guess). They did this because they found out that under the PBGC they were not going to benefit anymore from staying any longer. If that is true, then it will help with the number of recalls. Good luck.

The only possible conclusion I can account for for recalls in 2007 is this:

Once the 2 airlines combine under the same ops certificate, there will be no more hiring off the street as there is now in PHX under America West. Because of the high turn over on the America West side, that will cause openings in PHX which will then allow for that base to have openings for transfers which several of the FA's on the East side will take. (mainly because they were old PSA or still reside on the west coast) That will mean there will be openings on the east coast which right now, things are still a bit over staffed. Once the dust settles though, I can imagine recalls... but unfortunatly to such lovely bases as LGA, DCA, and PHL. And probably won't begin to happen until the last part of 2007. Just my take on things. Hope this helps.

On the up side of things... all I can think about is the America Wester who took a jumpseat to PHX out of CLT the other day holding a block with a 03/2001 sieority! HOT DAMN!!! I'm all about it!

They're not overstaffed on the East tonight/tomorrow!

Just curious if you were one of the US East that was recalled back but to the America West side?? Or still awaiting to be called back?

Reason being, many that came back on the recall either have quit and are awaiting to be recalled back again to the East side? Or some how are on a medical. Amazing, those who wanted their job back so badly certainly did not want it bad enough to quit and hope to get called back to the East? or somehow have injured themselves to collect workmans comp because they do not want to work???

I think that if you were offered a recall and took it, to work the position that you want and wait to transfer back out to the East once the certificates merge. Not take it and quit, the company will be the same if you get recalled back to the East as it was when you were given an opportunity for your job at the America West side of things. I think that those who did take it and quit should not be given another chance with the recall rights ..I am sure, there are others who would have loved the oppty to get recalled and didnt because others wasted their recall to quit and await return later on.

Do you ever have anything nice to say? You seem to be very jealous and bitter and hope I never have to work with you. FYI, every furloughed flight attendant at US Airways was offered a position in PHX and only somewhere around 70 were willing to take it. The biggest reason that some of those people quit (the ones who went out West) was because of the low pay, bad contract language for reserves, poor scheduling, and just flat out petty people who do not have a clue and refuse to try to see the bigger picture. Alot of those that went out to PHX are a major asset to US Airways and have given nothing less than 100% during their career at US Airways, in fact some of them are working in various management positions as we speak. Never fear Jetsetter, those recalls who were fed up for whatever reason out in PHX will be back to their home on the East Coast soon enough and no matter how much things have changed, one thing is certain, as long as they stay in PHL, PIT, CLT, DCA, BOS, or LGA they will never have to experience such pettiness ever again. The true professionals in this industry take care of each other with no questions asked, maybe it would do you good to watch these people as you might just learn something.

USstew23,

SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO True!!! They all got shafted out there. And yes..as we speak there are some that are back on east territory(not as f/a) but..so glad to have them back!!! I hope by summer 2007 there will be room to recall. But as of now...there is no room. It really sucks..because I was in that position and to make some money we have to work on off days. Its not pretty because most of us junior folks have the same days off...so we are all fightin for the same ETB trips and its ugly. But..we dont fly but maybe 2 or 3 trips(company time) per month. It will be a 3 day and maybe a 2 or 1 day here or there. About 50 hours per month. It is just crazy!!!! Jan and Feb are gonna be really bad. We may not get even 50 hours! I hope it gets better. I have always been very positive about this whole thing...but lately...I am gettin just fed up with it all. This is all just not right!! I really dont beleive there is an airline out there that has such a reserve sysytem as Usair has. Not even u express has a reserve like this. Something has to give soon. It is really gettin stressful.

Just my 2 cents and speakin my mind!!!

That is because the senior mamas don't feel they need to work and therefore call off sick.
No, "senior mamas" are able to hold the holidays off, and have absolutely no need to call off sick. Try again.

Don't hate the seniority that you don't have......

More senior folks with trips not calling off because they "can hold it off" is not necessarily true. What IS TRUE is that fact that a reserve sits all month on this system (no fault to a blockholder) and then when the $h!t hits the fan WE have to step in. Some feel that it's as it should be but I say no not really. We as reserves SHOULD be there to cover trips in irregular ops and holidays but NOT to the extent it is now. I don't fault a blockholder for doing anything they are legal by contract to do. Some reserves get bitter but blockholder AND reserves are working under a negotiated contract that blows. NOBODY voted for it nor will admit to it. Well this WILL change in time. I certainly do believe that come voting time for our contract be it a year or two from now the turnout WILL be huge and voices will be heard. Until that time there is NOTHING the company is going to do to change anything negotiated. I know a lot of it was forced on us but the company doesn't have to and won't change a thing. It is costing the company nothing to keep this system. They don't want reserves timed out. They pay you flat and thats it. Pretty simple for them.

Agreed, trav, it all comes down to negotations. I was simply saying that the "senior mamas" are able to hold the holidays off, so they infact are not calling in sick as twicebaked has said. The people that call in sick around the holidays are usually more junior, the ones that cannot hold the day(s) off.....
