Anticipated Transfer Of Dca Slots To U From Nw?

These are an ASSET for NWA, do you really think they would sell them? I for one do not. They are worth way to them to sell them.

I think it was said to be a possible lease, not purchase.

12 flights a day for SWA is bigger than JAN, IAH, ALB, AMA, PBI, CRP, and HRL. There is a much larger passenger base here than in those cities. I am just saying that there is a chance. Just my thoughts.......
Well, then look at it this way. Would NW lease them to WN only to have DCA yields further trashed? Or, would they be more apt to lease them to another "legacy" carrier? NW owns these slots, whether we like it or not.

Row, where are these media reports? Can you provide links or at least tell us which media are reporting this?
I saw it in the Daily, but I don't think they allow links.

Go to
http://dms.dot.gov/

to see ACA's petition. Remember that Faberman has never seen a legacy carrier's acquisition of any airport access as anything short of armageddon. Note the exclamation points.

The Docket number 18586.

Perhaps there will be an opportunity for comment on the docket. I don't know.

Bingo! We have a winner! And while it's possible that none of the lowfare carriers would want these--WN and B6 might not want to fly to DCA, FL and NK would love some slots but couldn't use that many--NW sure isn't going to lease the slots to them anyway.

Edited to add: And they're NW's slots, and NW has every right to lease them to whomever it chooses. The lowfare carriers can complain all they want.

There's no specific deadline for comments listed on this docket, but, in general, comments are due two weeks from the submission of the filing.

For more bitching about NW leasing the slots, see the most recent few Comair and Spirit filings in docket 7182. (Also see the recent NW filings in the same docket from some of their responses, although I'm sure a more detailed one is coming up now!)

Watch for SWA to try and buy those slots and put more pressure on US. It could be a game of keep-away. As long as someone gets the slots other than US, SWA will be happy. Just my thoughts......
SW likely wouldn't purchase slots at DCA. Too expensive for their format.

who owns the slots U currently uses in LGA?
US owns the vast majority of the slots it uses at both LGA and DCA.

(Note that in DCA, US uses about 360 slots per day. It's talking about leasing only 20 more from NW.)

I'm not sure if US leases any more slots from other majors. US recently swapped a few slots with AA, but I don't think US is leasing any from AA.

Some of the Express carriers (Colgan at LGA, for instance) do own limited numbers of slots themselves.

Yeah. To summarize:

"B!tch. Moan. Whine. Whine. We're low cost carriers, so we deserve lots of free slots. All of the rules should be broken, because we're special. Whine. Whine."

It's a Faberman! In fact, I've come to use "faberman" as a verb, meaning to complain without reason or to bemoan victim status while wiping the floor with your adversaries.
