Another LHR purchase from (a) G B Airways ?

Thats a joke NHBB.... AA wont be able to compete with VA and UA on that route.. Both will offer far superior service - more business and first seats and UAL will have refurbished A/C.. Not only that AA doesnt have the coneecting or originating traffic for that flight..
Is this the same United that dropped its LHR service from JFK? I guess they couldnt compete. Is this the same United that dropped all its South America service from JFK? Is this the same United that dropped all service from Miami except for a couple Ted flights a day? With all this vastly superior service why does it seem that United cannot compete with AA.

PS those so called refurbished AC are still years away from being finished.

Probably because they were too busy bulking up in China where AA has no presence. ;)

You sure don't see too many AA planes out in China but UA is definitely there.

Location, location, location.

Just an observation.

FLY,
Your absolutely correct !

My ONLY point about SFO/LHR(not that you took exception to my point, because you didn't), was that AA has a VERY LARGE loyal clientel, from the G+L community.

A SFO/LHR would have to rely largely on O+D traffic though, because of very little feed into SFO.

beauty,

ANOTHER thing you'll LEARN, as you "hang around" these knowledgeable posters on this board, is that you'll find that AA avoids UAL....FAR LESS, than UAL avoids AA(Asia excluded).

I wonder WHY that IS...........beauty ??

Realistically you should say restriction, restriction, restriction

Fair enough, but if you assume U.S.-China open skies, what other routes would AA fly besides the current ORD-PVG and the upcoming ORD-PEK? The only "slam dunk" that I see for AA is JFK-PVG, with LAX-PVG somewhat less likely. As for DFW (even assuming that the pilot issues are resolved), I just don't think the local market is strong enough to support China service right now despite AA's massive connecting hub there. Also keep in mind that other carriers would have the same freedom to enter routes as AA would have, like DL at JFK and UA at LAX. And even though it's under a separate bilateral agreement, what about ORD-HKG, which I'm surprised AA hasn't already entered even with UA in the market? Is AA instead waiting for CX to enter the market thus allowing for a code-share?

This is all JMHO. Your thoughts?

Cosmo,..I'm on board with you,

Meaning AA(I think) will do(internationally) what our "Great Emperor" Julius CRANDALL  has taught us, and that being ..."Pick your spots Very carefully", hense..JFK/CHINA !

It's also ANOTHER reason that AA(despite a gorgeous new terminal) is not flying JFK to OUTER MONGOLIA, like a certain ATL based carrier is.

And you are Sooo right about DFW. I'll be watching the loads from DFW/LHR very carefully.

Despite the enormity of the DFW hub, AA's "true north"(No compass headings meant here) has always been IMHO ORD/NYC, followed by LAX. Obviously the addition of MIA meant(Internationally) a Southern "flair", with a bit of "eastbound" thrown in.

Dallas TEXAS will NEVER IMHO have that "International flavor" like a ORD/JFK/LAX/MIA has.

Now when it comes to DOMESTIC, well the "good ol' boys" are a tough act to follow.

That's because our shethead CEO and executives think everything revolves around LHR and NRT. Maybe they should re-think? Our stock sure isn't looking to great these days. It's currently at $14.03 on Dec. 28th.
