no I am not a spy or with the company....

Your right! The only way we can save the AMT profession now is for ALL unions that are representing technicians; that work for part 121, 135 carriers and transport category 145 repair stations, is to wise up and realize that there is strength in numbers. They've got to swallow their pride and step up to the plate. There's no reason why each union can't throw a little money into the pot and form a new union with a serious goal of truly representing all technicians. They've got to stop thinking about their six figure incomes before all the work is contracted out to non-union repair stations. Who can stop the unions from coming together? The government? Who's going to stop the loss of jobs to repair stations that have a high percentage of non-licensed people? If the general public new of the hypocrisies that are going on in this industry right now they'd never fly again.

Wow, maybe you can get Art Luby and the AMTU. There is only one union which represents Mechanics and Related workers and that would be AMFA. I have heard from my friends at the local that this would be the latest twu spin, you know reunite the line and overhaul or at least make it appear that way. We will be united soon but under the AMFA. Sunny has made it clear cut that no changes will occur within the twu and quite frankly if they did, no one would vote for them anyway.

Yeah but, what if two work groups at the company teamed up. Demanding equality to the pilots and management? Of equivilent #'s and members.

Yes, many a 767-er are shipped down to "deep south" for a little "r&r"(ha!)
the company tries to deny it but.......
Outsourcing.....awful. Put, it this way, they fix cars with BARS OF SOAP imagine an aircraft......
We had the #1 maintinance facility (still do, as far as what is left)....... Even pioneered "in house maintinance."

Are you referring to "in house maintenance" as the SRP/OSM classification?

I am sure there are many who would like a definition to what you mean and your position on this item. The lowering of the mechanic craft and class profession to third party levels in the same facility as the rest of us. "In house maintenance" at what cost?

I apologize, It was meant as a compliment. That we had the maintinance facility in Tulsa and the one at Alliance. We have THE BEST mechanics at AA. I always tell people that the mechanics are the best and therefore our equipment is. I apologize if my terminology was wrong.

I like the fact that when I ask any mechanic a question it is answered honestly and with real enthusiasm. You guys are a class act.

Now what gives you that idea?
But, could be interesting?

Power in numbers.........

You have that power with the AFL-CIO, and I agree "power in numbers".
Seguro, what power do we have with the afl-cio? The power to form an anti-AMFA campaign? As for power in numbers which has more power? 10000 ditch diggers or 100 scientists? (Crude analogy. Try not to spin this for other than I intend.)

As to buhbuy, the ONLY union that can represent all AMTs is a craft democratic one. That union is AMFA. We will be all under one craft democratic union roof. It will simply take time. The twu can NEVER change. Either from within or outside.

Kenny....again send $$$$...kids hungry. You will never be a craft union, nor will you ever be more democratic than the TWU. Your dreams are bigger, but your results are smaller.

buhbye,

Class & Craft determinations are made by the NMB, National Mediation Board. To date, no Union has been able to overturn such a decision through appeal to the NMB or Court Action.

Currently, the F/As have been seeking recognition of their status through the creation of a License similar to that granted to A&P Mechanics and Dispatchers.

Why would the F/As be willing to forgo recognition based on their skill set by accretion into the Maintenance & Related class and craft?
