Oh...they say they have sufficient DIP funds.....then you guys are golden.....

last week "they" were saying that BK was nowhere in sight...and analysts were recommending a "buy" on AMR stock.

There's a new reAAlity....and it's not gonna be easy for you guys. The BK courts have the power and will decide your future. And if you think Parker is going to sit on the sidelines...you are probably mistaken.

Mesa's bk took 2 years? maybe longer.....wonder how long AA will torture their employees?

He can (and most likely will) STAND on the SIDELINES until the cows come home. Something he's become very good at.

Shifting gears a bit... Do you recall a while back when JAL was restructuring how AA and partners came up with 1.4 billion to keep them afloat and in Oneworld? The move was to protect the estimated 2 billion$ they added to the Oneworld network.

Sit back for a minute and think about what AA means to the US operations of Oneworld..

For LCC, they can wave as much cash as they can gather and even if its the most, what really matters is what the creditors and the judge says based upon AA's plans... Doubtful AA will relinquish control to the point of loss of control of their pre-BK momentum..

Memory test:

Do you think LCC will be "Shunned"?

I don't know how its going to work out. I feel bad for you guys. Been there done that on the BK , and all the advise we can give you is that it will be worse than anything you have in mind right now. Pensions, employees, equipment, routes, pay, work rules, vacation etc etc. It is all on the chopping block for the judge with very little recourse. The contracts in place at AA now mean little to nothing to the BK court.

I figure Parker is going to make some play in this mess. what that may be only the crowd in Tempe knows.

AA

Shock and Denial go hand-in-hand.

This is what it looks like!
Denial of what? AA as of today has filed chapter 11. I accept that. Hoped it wouldn't happen, but thats about it.

So when do I get my LCC ID?

You buddy bidding with USA320 pilot?

No one should be glad to see this ..... it's just another step backwards for America. 10's of thousands more US citizens losing their pensions. There's no winner here ... for us working stiffs. Just more of the same old decline. If our government was truly responsible it would see the destruction it has caused in this industry over the years. They should not approve any new mergers for this industry unless it includes some type of satisfactory retirement for it's employees.

Congress is getting ready to go after the airlines for bags fees .... I say to congress, take the bag fees away from the airlines until they start taking care of their workers and quite dumping pensions on the PBGC.

AAmericain employees I am truly sorry this is happened to you? Workers are all in this together ..... forget about what paint is on the side of your plane?

It's amazing to me that given the circumstances, the unbridled AArrogance continues.

Don't worry...you guys have them just where you want them!! :D

I'm sorry for what is coming down the road for you folks. Been there twice....and if you think you know what's gonna happen and how this will play out....you are wrong, my friend.

The BK courts and their judges have become very big-business, and management friendly....labor insensitive.

Just don't dismiss a merger out of hand..it may be what saves your job....

I agree with what you say. Since the multiple BK's at LCC the BK laws have changed. So has the banking industry since the housing crunch.

With globalization of the industry evolving since the last round of bankruptcies I think its safe to say we'll see some new dynamics in play as far as who shows up with interest in the courts.

I hold no false hope that the employees will emerge in good shape after the process... It's gonna be ugly.

BTW..AMR HAS relinquished control......and what pre-BK momentum?? The downward spiral?? Time for a reAAlity check....

with BK - AA has already lost control - while AA MGMT has a first crack at reorg - if someone makes an offer they have to look at it and discuss with the judge

Without too much money LCC can buy AA out of bankrupcy

This is the perfect scenario for Doug - I'm confident they are working through a plan with their bankers and have been for a long time

This is a scale business and this way Doug can take more capacity out of the system.

Think about product improvements that can be made:

Eliminate AA shuttle
Expand shuttle from DCA, LGA, BOS to include ORD
While we might think LCC is a step child - it still provides great connecting traffice to international flights

Improve SJU hub with US connections, etc

I think it is time for all of us to back off and empathize what the AA folks are going through. For once, please, do not denigrate these folks.

We have been there twice and had bk tossed in our faces daily. Offer help when we can. Otherwise, please, stop with the idiotic comments.
