Considering the economic impact of all those items, what do you propose they do? Sit on the sidelines?

It's not like they're lobbying to bust the unions.... Open skies with Japan, modernizing ATC and reducing delays, and carbon emissions have some pretty big economic impact to the airlines, some of it positive, most of it negative...

I'd be shocked it the APA wasn't also lobbying on some of this, or on the personal electronic device cockpit rule... Who knows what the TWU or APFA lobby for or against....

I'm not proposing anything. I just posted this as it pertains to AMR.

And by the way...here's a tidbit about the APA's lobbying efforts.

Agree, just about everyone lobbies, whether companies or unions. That's the game. And with current administration's anti-business policies, there is plenty for a company to lobby for.

Anti-business policies? Such as?
After eight years of the Bush/Cheney "leave-em-alone" policies that devastated the working class, the "Bourgeoise" are going to raise Holy hell when regulations are again enacted to hold them to any ethical standard - Glass/Steagall would be a good example. It's not that they don't make money - they just don't make all they believe they "deserve".

This is about what I thought would happen three years ago - the Bush administration had hosed the working people so soundly the pendulum would swing too far in the other direction - O'bummer got the black vote (obviously) and the others that voted for him did so because he was not George Bush nor Republican. It didn't matter what McCain/Palin brought to the table - they never had a chance after McCain fell into lockstep with the Republican party as their only appeal was to a very narrow constituency (ie, business), and as I stated before, simply because they were Republican.

I can't help but wonder if that was by design, similar to the Republican party running Bob Dole against Clinton (I believe), giving such a lame choice that a loss was assured.

Palin is a fairly good looking old hide that would be better suited for a centerfold (with major airbrushing and bazoom augmentation surgery).

As far as lobbyists are concerned - I personally want bounties placed on them and those who hire them, no season and no limit - there's no lower form of life on this planet except the politicians bought by the lobbyists and I'll not get into my feelings re: that here.
