About as "variable dependent" as those at other carriers and companies that have had their DB pensions terminated/frozen. Not to be cold hearted, but anyone who thought that their pension was exempt from any risk of disappearing has been living in a fantasy world for the last decade or longer.

With all due respect: You have got to be shi++ing me!

AA signs a contract with their unions promising to pay an amount certain on a promised interval for a defined period of service.

AA states that the home invasion of 2003 was necessary to protect the pensions.

AA then refuses to fund their promises contained within those contracts and foists the liability on the PBGC.

The PBGC then reduces the amount promised according to the insurance policy they forced AA to purchase.

At the end, some r@t b@s+@rd like you tells me that I should have seen it coming: so, it is really all my fault.

You are a piece of work.

BoeingBoy, a retired US pilot, actually saw his pension slashed when US terminated their pensions. You, on the other hand, will receive every dime of accrued pension benefit (unless you're management or a pilot) and yet you have the gall to call him names?

Don't be so sure. The PBGC is already woefully underfunded, and the AA pension default will make it worse, by far.

Do you think Congress is going to increase PBGC funding so we can get our full pensions as orinused?....Remember, this is the same Congress that let AA underfund our pensions.

One injustice doesn't countenance another injustice: I will not receive what I was promised because I will now have to wait many years later to get it.

Boeingboy having his pension slashed does not countenance his telling me that I should have know AA would not deliver their promises to me.

AA and the TWU told all of us that our sacrifices during the home invasion of 2003 was to protect jobs and the pensions: well, we lost the jobs and now we are going to take a hit on the pensions after all.

So with all due respect: if you do not have an oar in the water at AA, don't pretend to tell me what to think, say or how to vote.

You and yours are just rubbernecking your way past the latest carnage to occur on the transportation highway; save your clucking for someone that gives a damn.
