Subtle rumors had us looking at JetBlue as well ... UAL does love those Airbus'

Classic. And that would just disturb AA to the born, I love it.
Although, not so sure due to the size UAL would become, unless mass concessions get involved. All just my opinion.
I still would not scratch off Southwest as of yet. I could see these cost cutting moves being made to to get the cash on hand in order to do a merger with another airline. It really IS the only way SWA can grow fast enough to get back into the profit margins where they need to be. I still think a SWA/JB, Frontier or even yes Spirit could be on the radar of Southwest in order to get the planes, the routes, and even some flight crews as quickly as they need to do.
It is still rumored that we will go into DFW with small amount of gates in 2026. Frontier has more flights out of DFW than Spirit does, however, JB is the bread winner when it comes to fleet size @ approx 270ish, Spirit comes in 2nd on fleet size at approx 157, and Frontier has a mere 57ish.
Maybe Southwest could swoop in and do a hat trick by combining 3 LCC carriers out there, like SWA-Frontier-Spirit, or SWA/JB would also do with approx 50 or so A/C less than the hat trick, triple play.
I do see it getting interesting over the next 2-5 years in aviation for sure my friend.
