If UglyTran goes out of business, how will Q ever get to CLT to give me my sock back? I think they should charge for bags, but charge it in pesos.
Hahahahahahahahahahahaha PesoTran!!
Yay!
No worries IS, we start with First Checked Bag fees soon, maybe tomorrow. I forwarded your request to our CEO and he must have felt compelled to see to it that, I am still employed so, I can deliver your sock! $15 for the firstee and still $25 for the second. Business Class, A Plus, Employees and Family are exempt, or something like that.

Sincerely, FeeTran AKA QA

B6 already tried moving into the fortress hub at ATL and was handed their collective rear ends. As for Southwest, they just suffered their first non-profitable quarter in 17 years. Safe to say they'd rather not pick a fight with the World's largest, most powerful mega-airline right now.
Forgetting a few facts, as usual, aren't we? B6 came into ATL to compete with two (not one) airlines, both with hubs. B6 also only started out with one or two routes out of one gate IIRC. My example was if the the almighty, omnipotent, all-powerful (that's an ego booster, done just for you 777  ) Delta was the only hub carrier left.

First non-profitable quarter in 17 years, blah blah blah. What does it say about the "world's largest, most powerful mega-airline" when they can't boast of having the same stellar record. Losing a billion one quarter, then reporting a few hundred million in profit later is not exactly the business plan I would put forth as an example for others to follow; profitable for 17 years, then one quarter unprofitable? I'll take that any day, and only your pride prevents you from admitting the same. And, that one unprofitable quarter won't come close to preventing WN from going anywhere they damn well choose, your "safe to say" uninformed opinion not withstanding.

There's not enough people at DL/NW who share your "we're the biggest, we're the biggest, rah rah rah" attitude from keeping the post-merger carrier from being successful. But, it is that attitude from enough employees like you that will ensure a steady flow of disgruntled passengers flowing to "brand X" to keep me employed. And for that 777, I'm indebted to you.

FurloughTran, please bring back one of your pilots , he buys me starbucks. I only need you to recall, like 15 or something. Do it.
Would he be required to bring 'Lost Socks' as well, or are you just in it for the Free Latte?
I heard we made an extra $50 today with the First Bag thingie, but that was from a LieTran Employee!

You're the little red corvette, not me, with your sock collection. SkankyTran!! hahahahahaha

I always get free lattes just for being fandamntastic.

Hey, Socks are good... Beats having 'Cold Feet'. Let's not confuse having Common Sense vs a Coffee Fetish, Miss Latte Sipper. Also, my Red Vette somehow turned into a Gray Camry, so stop playing with your Voodoo Dolls! In keeping up with the thread, I heard from LieTran that we collected $90 today on the 'I'm too lazy to put my bag in the overhead so just take my hard earned money'! :p

I would have loved to have responded sooner. However, i just got back from PVG and PEK via the mighty 777 (BusinessElite going and coming of course)after having spent 6 glorious days overseas(those are the city codes for Shanghai and Beijing for those who don't have the pleasure of working for a truly Global airline and think international means Cancun  ) I know, its a burden that we fly so many exotic and interesting places, sometimes i get a migraine when i'm contemplating my next big international trip. Where to next? Prague, Dubai, Tel Aviv, or perhaps South Africa? The choices seem endless.

I could but you'll need a Passport first. I know that word Passport must be foreign to you, but for those of us fortunate enough to work at the largest carrier in the world, with a fleet of over 1,000 aircraft, its practically a necessity when deciding where to go on vacation.

Stop thinking of Wichita, Kansas and Flint, Michigan as vacation destinations. Start re-training your mind to think on a global scale. Perhaps Singapore or Madrid???

I can only hope your condescending attitude is the exception rather than the rule at DL.

You are an embarrassment to this company, and I am disgusted to have you as a new co-worker.

Get over yourself.

Harsh words from a fellow co-worker, but par for the course in your case. I've gone ahead and read thru many of your posts, Kev. It's blatantly obvious you're pushing this whole IAM thing, i presume in the hopes of landing a coveted shop steward position. Good luck with that. Unfortunately for you, we have many former Western/Pan Am folks here who were a part of a union and have nothing but horrible memories. My guess is that the IAM's chances at DAL are about as good as TWU's were.

And could you please answer me this simple question. If the IAM is so high and mighty, why the HELL is NWA pay at, or very near the bottom of the industry? What good are those 2 extra weeks of vacation if you haven't the money to go anywhere?

I could see you singing the praises of the IAM if your contract was comparable to UAL or AA, unfortunately it isn't even close. Did somebody spike the IAM kool-aid with NyQuil?

Ahhh, a personal attack. Cute.

Actually, I guess it is par for the course, since I have no problem calling people out on their blind hubris.

What a brilliant deduction on your part. what took you so long? Of course I'm pushing to remain unionized. Without Scope, there's no way many of the cities currently staffed by mainline employees stay open. Also, from a fiscal point of view, when looking at my total compensation, I'm still far ahead of my peers at DL, so yeah, I have a motive.

You do know that shop steward positions are voluntary (as in paid $0), right? As for higher up positions, such as General Chair, with as busy as they are dealing with this regime, you couldn't pay me enough.

Maybe, maybe not; we'll see. On our side, there's ~15k who have nothing but "horrible memories" of what Anderson et al have done in the past.

And could you please answer me this simple question. If the IAM is so high and mighty, why the HELL is NWA pay at, or very near the bottom of the industry? What good are those 2 extra weeks of vacation if you haven't the money to go anywhere?

It's not. Look at the whole package.

Those extra 2 weeks are time you get to spend with friends, family, whatever you're into. Even if you decide not to go anywhere, that's a huge quality of life issue. Maybe you enjoy being at work for 52 weeks a year, but I'd rather not be. I also feel that more vacation time makes for a more refreshed/focused employee, which benefits the company, but maybe that's just me....

I could see you singing the praises of the IAM if your contract was comparable to UAL or AA, unfortunately it isn't even close.

It's quite comparable to UA's, and has much better scope than AA's.

Can you honestly say your contract is comparable to UAL's and better than AA's in scope with a straight face???

Top out pay for NWA is $3148 per month

UAL top out is $3590

AA is $3720

The numbers don't lie. NWA ramp is 10th out of 10 in straight pay when compared to the 10 largest carriers.

Not that this has anything to do with the Thread Title, like anyone else is following, but, what is the current ramp Delta top out pay? Just to compare the 'Playing field'... Now also, consider other perks, such as Shift differential, etc... Let's be fair in our answers, please. Not that I have a 'Dog in this Hunt', but equal and correct info for all, should be applied. Not Grandstanding where the new and ALL Powerful Almighty Delta flies! Flying 'Business Elite' does not necesarily qualify someone as a trip 7 Pile it. It may be hard to work some of the 'Bells & Whistles from that seat. Then again, some people can do 'Anything' on the Internet!
