All female visible leg and underarm hair

No...read the post. He mentioned "Latin" hula hoop earrings.... At work that could get you in trouble, I wouldn't report that but I know someone who had to go to sensitivity training because he made a comment about latin cha-cha something. I personally don't like the big old hoops....it is just when you attach a race, nationality, religion, etc., that it can land you in hot water.

We're all quite familiar with the "hot water" part of comments not even intended as a slight. We all have to learn, however, there are people who cruise these boards looking for anything imaginable to become "offended" over as they have nothing better to do with their time.

So what if he said "latin" when describing earrings? It's rather doubtful Bears decided to ruin your day in particular with an insult and you know that very well. Think to yourself "What a dummy" and truck on.

Bears is retired and really doesn't care a whit about office politics and BS employment rules like #32 (the catch-all) anymore - like most of us, he probably didn't care too much about this nonsense when he was working either.

I can only speak for myself, but if you want an ounce of respect, don't pull out the race/origin/nationality card - leave it buried where it belongs. You'll get the respect you earn, not that which you demand - that I'll assure you of.

777fixer: How much play did airline employees taking pay and benefit cuts get in the media? Or airlines going under? Not that much so I doubt this will ever get much attention.

Actually, as I recall it got plenty of play at the time, but that was business and business is deemed acceptable. This, however, is just plain silly in some parts. The media loves silly, they love to play silly like a raw nerve.

Plenty of play? It was in the news for a little bit and then people went on their merry way. Since this has not appeared anywhere in the news I guess we all know what the "reaction" was to a company having certain grooming standards.

Quite frankly with everything that is going on I doubt most people care.

I wonder if braids or pigtails would be cool with the company ...

My daughter was denied first class wearing designer clothes but "sporting" long dreds pulled back and neatly secured. She was working for the Armed Forces Recreation Center in Garmisch-Partenkirshen, Germany. Denial was at LAX of all places.
