A US A321 (AC 191) is parked on the hardstand inTPA for what may very well be an extended time out of the active fleet. Can anyone enlighten us as to this birds issue?

I believe it is a stress crack in the main landing gear housing, the housing is a cast unit, possibly not beefy enough, its the 5th one in Airways fleet with this issue...(I think its is a design defect, not a hard landing issue, just my opinion).....

Is there anything on the airbus that dosen't crack or fall off?

Hey there's a big hanger there they can do the work in ......oops that's right. US shed that back awhile ago. Thanksgiving I think it was? Think Pemco has moved in.. Ohh....they can contract it out.......

It's a rib 5 crack.

Most likely to be farmed to vendors instead of being done by our own maintenance under our CBA, Article 2b and the 50/50 billable provision.

TPA Maintenance. The best thing USAirways ever had. Thrown in the dumpster like the jobs that went with them, along with the APU shop, the engine shop, the machine shop, the seat shop, the instrument shop, the hydraulic shop, the weld shop, the slide shop, the...............................

Gosh, I hope I am flying on the 50 that was done inhouse by our own USA maintenance.

There was a crack found on the left main landing gear trunion (I think that's what it's called, basically where the gear attaches to the AC). I have a picture, but not sure if appropriate to post here, so I won't.

Anyway, it was found by TPA MX on an overnight. The mechanic said the plane was only 3 years old and under warranty, and that Airbus was going to do the work.

My people are telling me that Pemco won't lease space in their hangers (Former US & DL) unless they do the work. It's being covered by Airbus who is sending a team here to perform the fix. Without an inside place to do the work, progress is negative and will likely be that way for an indefinite period.
