US Airways warns of shutdown

Union Rep: “The flight attendants' union will likely make a dealâ€￾

Brooner says if US Airways survives he still envisions growth for the airline. After a few profitable quarters he might buy assets from other carriers to expand beyond the airline's East Coast base.

USA320,

You know, the MEC of AFA is somewhat like the MEC of ALPA...

Not everyone sees it the same way, and it depends on the support one has...now doesn't it?

Don't give up that night job. ;)

According to Mike Flores....just what kind of a DEAL will AFA make.??? PUKE!!!!!!

games, games and more games. The Olympics at least have some heart and soul. :(

Making a deal and ratifying a deal may be two different things.

PitBull:

I simply posted an article.

Nonetheless, either the union's cut a deal or they do not cut a deal. If they do not then they will get a S.1113 motion to defend, and the unions can explain to the judge why they need pay and benefits more than the successful competition.

Finally, without deals the odds of liquidation and losing everything is much greater.

If it happens, it happens.

Please tell me what successful competition you are referring too.

Bronner is a disgrace. He might as well change his diaper and cry some more. Look at Lakefield's damage control in the last 6 hours. Bronner has so much money to burn he is willing to make a complete fool of himself just to prove he has total control over the situation. This IS a liquadation, and will go down in business history as one of the worst management blunders ever. Greeter.

If I would of only known when I was younger that accepting a job with this outfit was one of the worst mistakes of my life. OH WELL, live and learn, life will go on after this lousy POS company folds. The plus side is look at all the extra prime time I'll be able to be at home. And yes 320 it will be the same home I'm at now! :p

Well althought I do not know what they earn at B6 or FL, I will not venture a guess. I do know that CS and Ramp agents top out in the $23.00-$24.00 range. So I don't think you CS and Ramp will have too much of a problem explaining why they should continue to earn $20.00 a hour.

I feel really bad for ALL the US employees. If I were asked to vote on the proposal from the comany I would have to say no. Then if it was implemented I would be lookng for other work.

USA320Pilot,

I remember USAIR management saying the same thing about filing for BK. They got a deal and filed BK anyway! Bonner has made it VERY clear that he'd rather start over than deal with a second BK. So what would the worry of a 1113 verdict be? Especially if he just liquidated everything ANYWAY. B) Started over like Frank Lorenzo did with EA and Continental. You remeber who survived after that crap was finally over? Funny how history always has a way of repeating itself, isn't it?

Your analysis is usually right on, thanks for your support. All of us are sucked into a very bad situation which is out of our control. The employees who will be hurt the most are the ones living way beyond their means, which is clearly within their control.

I do not know the FA comparison but for agents its
WN current 21.50/hr in 2005 22.14/hr in 2006 24.35/hr
B6 tos 20.00/hr
FL tos 16.75/hr
HP tos 13.10/hr although this wont stay for long since they just voted in the Teamsters.

Too bad the company is stuck on the bottom feeder scale instead of coming back with something more reasonable considering the real competition. If they HAD made a reasonable effort to negotiate something more realistic earlier something might have been accomplished. Right now though everyone feels like the hornets nest has been stirred once again and many arent interested in listening.

tadjr,

Thank you for the up to the minutes wages. I was going by memory of what I was told. I could only remember topout at $24+, but not when it was they got it.

What he sees is an Airline with the low wage help and you do get what you pay for. Let it all play out and most of us will go our seperate ways. But with oil near the $50 mark , it's going to be hard for Airlines to survive without mergers.

I can start over, I did in 1984 and it was a challenge, but I did survive by working 2 jobs. It's a shame he is putting people through this situation, as the stress level is at an all time high

Many will face personal BK and certain other problems, but we will survive

I hope Fidelity gets more phone lines put in, as there will be a run on the 401K
