Not saying you're wrong about sending it directly to the NMB, but here's what their manual says:

An applicant or intervenor may present the Investigator with additional authorizations up until 4 p.m., Eastern Time, on the day the Investigator receives the applicable list and signature samples.

The manual doesn't say anything about individuals sending cards directly to the NMB.

Jim,

This is from the USAPA website:

Even though we have filed, it's not too late to submit your card & be counted.
Your card helps ensure that the US Airways pilots have a choice.
If you want to submit your card anonymously, send your card (must be via FedEx overnight) directly to the NMB.
The fact that you have submitted a card will be known only to the NMB.
(Neither the Company, USAPA nor ALPA are notified of cards sent directly to the NMB.) Send your card to:

National Mediation Board
Office of Legal Affairs
USAPA/US Airways
1301 K. St. NW, Ste 250E
Washington, DC 20005

If you are not concerned with anonymity, please contact USAPA at
877-678-7272 x706 for FedEx overnight shipping information;
USAPA will cover the cost of overnighting your card to be sure it is counted.

Jim,

This is from the USAPA website:
That's why I wanted to be clear that the info wasn't necessarily wrong, just different from what the NMB manual states. Hopefully someone has verified that the NMB will accept authorization cards from individuals.

Read the post. Until the company submits signature samples, the NMB will accept the cards.

Read the post.
I did, but apparently you didn't read mine. I wasn't questioning the NMB accepting cards until they get the list from the company. The quote from their manual which I included clearly says that they will.

I was pointing out that the NMB manual specifies that the applicant or intervenor can still submit cards, but says nothing about individuals submitting cards directly to the NMB. It'd be a shame if some erroneous info resulted in cards being invalid, wouldn't it?

I've since been advised by PM that a NMB attorney addressed this, hopefully with no misunderstanding.

Jim

The NMB rep. said they would only accept cards by mail, FedEx etc. We should have a docket number shortly and should be posted for inclusion. Only repeating what was said.

Does anybody know whether the West group is even included in this since the NMB has not recognized the group as a single entity for negotiating? I would like to think that everyone would be included. If the NMB only grants the vote to US Airways East pilots, will there be another to decide whether ALPA or USAPA will represent the entire group (if USAPA wins approval)? Just wondering.

Is the West group a signatory of a transition agreement?

I know you know but I wonder what others are thinking when they say:

"... since the NMB has not recognized the group "(AWA)" as a single entity for negotiating ...",

hence, the question.

The transition agreement is a contract among the company and the two pilot groups and it has nothing to do with the NMB finding that the AW and US pilots are a single bargaining unit.

Normally, in light of the generally acknowledged consolidation of AW and US (there was a fair amount of publicity two years ago at the NYSE, and the stock has been trading dismally since then) the NMB finding would be a non-event paper-shuffle. Quite honestly, I was surprised that it had not already happened.

It would be simply amazing if the NMB found that the two pilot groups were not a single bargaining unit. But, the fact is that the finding has not been made as yet. Go figure.

Well, heck, I thought we were talking about whether AWA has "stature" to sign their own agreements. Good point.

Just in case someone would like to submit a card for USAPA it can still be done with complete secrecy.

A person can send his card to:

National Mediation Board

Office of Legal Affairs

Re: NMB file No. CR-6926

1301 K. Street, N.W., Suite 250 East

Washington, DC 20005

The NMB will keep accepting cards to this case number until 4:00pm on the date the company submits the voting list.

By this method, no-one will know if you submit a card. Not the "other guys", not ALPA, or the company. The NMB is reqiuired by law to keep all cards secret. The fax requesting the voting list has just been sent so a FedEx to the above address would be the most reliable method to ensure delivery in a prompt manner.
