AMR Announces Proposed Issue of Convertible Notes

FORT WORTH, Texas, Aug. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- AMR Corp. (NYSE: AMR - News), the parent company of American Airlines, Inc., today announced its intention to sell, subject to market and other conditions, $250 million issue price of convertible notes due 2023, to qualified institutional buyers in a private placement pursuant to Rule 144A under the Securities Act of 1933 (the Securities Act). The initial purchasers are expected to have an option to purchase an additional $50 million issue price of the notes.
AMR said the notes are to be guaranteed by American Airlines, Inc. AMR plans to use the net proceeds from the offering for working capital and general corporate purposes.
