AA - SWA ?

Come on all of you are grownups. An AA/WN merger would mean that the mechanic wages at WN would be brought down to AA mechanic wages, AMFA would get kicked off the propety and God help AirTran and TWA mechanics, as the TWU takes over.

Not to offend anybody from AA or the TWU, but I would prefer to have the unions and management from SWA rather then have the unions and management at AA. The SWA working relationship of union and management seems to be the winning combination. But the adversarial relationship AA seems to like to have with the unions doesn't really give that, we are pulling in the same direction feel.

AA had a perfect indication of how loyal the employees were when we voted in the 2003 contracts, only to have the executives squander all that good will and embitter the employees of AA. I think everyone can point out what they did from their own view point.

After reading all these other 'what if' merger rumors, WN may be a good choice. For the record, I believe that AA can restructure itself and come out of BK with style and grace. But WN may be the best choice, except that its FL merger has to be completed first.

Just my opinion

I actually have given AA-WN some serious thought over the past couple weeks.

Some people have opined that WN's business model is just about tapped out, and maybe they've gone as far as they really can as a standalone single aircraft type domestic-only operation. The FL acquisition increases their footprint and gets them into the short-haul international markets, but again, there's only so much they can do with the 73NGs.

If you took at how QF & Jetstar operate, it's not too far of a stretch to see some benefits from putting the domestic brand of WN and the international brand of AA under common ownership.

Btw, swamt....it's been brought up here previous, what's the feedback from WN line mechs on the quality-serviceability of Southwests aircraft that have come out of Aeromans facility's down in El Salvador? They seem to be good, or are they gen plagued with problems for wks?- Thx.

Low enough that I lost a mechanic to WN for pay and possibly representation.

(Heard today that even one of supervisors might be headed to WN.)

Who performs WN Fleet Service work?
